Little Steven's "Underground Garage" Radio Show!

Recommended Posts

Hey, has anybody else been listening to this radio show on Sunday nights? It's available in quite a few cities and it's THE SHIT!! I cannot believe somebody is actually playing real rock'n'roll on national radio and exposing people to stuff they've never heard of! All kinds of great obscure garage-rock and psychedelic gems from the 60's thru the present. Steven is singlehandedly trying to start a trend here, and bring back the real thing! The really scary part for me is that half the stuff he's playing on this show are songs my band covers. :D And we didn't think anybody'd heard of some of it, let alone would ever play it on the radio. Anyway, if you are unfortunate enough not to have heard about this show (which just premiered 2 weeks ago), you can go to http://www.littlesteven.com and check out the "Underground Garage" link. It has the playlists for the shows, plus a list of all the radio stations that carry it. If yours doesn't, you should call them and ask them why the hell not! And no, I'm not affiliated with Little Steven or this show in any way, but I'd like to be! --Lee

Well here I am in Charlotte which I lovingly refer to as Bofuck NC, and of course it's not available. Maybe if I climb a tree and hold an antenna way up in the air I can pick up the Atlanta station. Anyway I've got my own battles to fight here. There's a really cool college station that has put up translators all over the SouthEast, WNCW. A commercial station just bought the frequency next to theirs in Charlotte which when operable will totally drown out the NCW signal. NCW's signal is 100.7 their signal is 100.9, NCW's translator signal is 60 watts the new stations signal is 6000 watts. Bye, Bye, NCW. Problem is any translators signal IS secondary to a primary station according to FCC rules. End of story, there is no fight here that could be won. Why does it have to be this way? Why doesn't everyone seek quality like we do? That is the question to me. Please come away with me to the planet of musicians. Well, Hell, I just like good music, I guess you can't force that on people. Or can you?

Ohhh yeah, I've listened to "Teenage Wasteland" before and it rocks! Re the Little Steven show (which I am listening to right now, OH YEAH!), I am just surprised to be hearing it on NATIONWIDE, MAINSTREAM radio, is all. This is good news to me and I hope it gains a good audience! --Lee
