Who was the first "no-talent" rock star?

Nope, he's no relative. But I am under forty. So I guess anything before the 70's is shit because anybody under 40 hasn't heard of it. I guess Glenn Miller was a wanker too. As was Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole.... Need I go on? Let me try to be more clear cuz you seem so damned focused on this "one-hit wonder" terminology. You seem to liken the word "one-hit wonder" to me calling him a piece of sh*t maggot weasil toad. I DID NOT say Bobby Darin was a piece of sh*t maggot weasil toad. I said he is a one-hit wonder. Initially a broad term when I said it - he maybe had 2 hits - but he certainly was not a "heavy" in the history of contemporary music. I'm not going to say you're a psychopath, but how you can absolutely freak the hell out over this "one-hit wonder" terminology...TAKE that and extrapolate me not liking Bobby Darin for this ... So I guess anything before the 70's is shit because anybody under 40 hasn't heard of it. I guess Glenn Miller was a wanker too. As was Louis Armstrong, Nat King Cole.... Is, to me, the sign of somebody being mentally unbalanced or it's somebody "taking the piss" with me. Gotta be. About 95% of all the music I love is pre-70's. Miller, Armstrong & Nat King Cole are all musically brilliant. It's almost comedic really. :D It's like me going to a woman and saying to her "well, I don't really care for your blouse color there" ........ and she hears that as "WHAT? you think I'm ugly, curse my family and wish I was dead?" I mean the exaggeration is beyond the normal boundaries of sanity. :D

Ok, the earliest no talent band I ever saw was VELVET UNDERGROUND. Their recordings didn't do them justice, they were much worse live.

And you pulled the age thing into it. I really didn't mean to go off on a rant, but I don't think someone like Bobby Darrin should not be heaped onto the pile of one hit-wonder record company inventions. That's all.

He changed it to avoid confusion with Davy Jones of the Monkees, so I don't think he ever auditioned for them. I've heard the Hendrix story though. I was told the Monkees loved him, but the Monkees fans...not so much. Who'da thunk? ;)

Jim Morrison? You know what? You're right, he had almost no talent what so ever. The Archies are another good one. No one said Kurt Cobain and he deserves a few votes as well. Iaian
