medford
Previously, Sonar would not show any input or outputs in the track view. The drivers were highlighted in Options-Audio-Drivers but they wouldn't show in the drop down list in the track view. SO, I uninstalled XP, went back to ME and started over. (Meanwhile the Heavy-Metal-Kick-Your-Butt band I was recording was getting pissed.) Now, after much groaning and knashing of teeth, I've got XP up again and the new Dakota drivers installed. Clicking on the Dakota applet shows everything to be ok BUT when I click on the Sonar icon, to start Sonar, I get BLUE SCREEN! Which one is the culprit? Sonar? Dakota? XP? Satan? Any ideas are welcome. medford - I miss my Tascam 424
halljams
Ok. first, let me give you a time saving bit of advice on this stuff.... Don't go wiping drives and changing os's until a last resort. I've been thu farrrrr toooo much of this type of trouble shooting, it's usually something small, but you need to know where to look. I'm not an expert at all but i may be able to help. Email me if you want with where you are at with it now. jimholland@whtvcable.com :) Check out SUPERVIBE
Philip OKeefe
Email Halljams... First of all, NEVER change stuff around durring a session. If stuff gets that out of whack in the middle of a session, CALL THE SESSION (IOW, send everyone home with a promise of a couple free hours to make it up to them). No sense in getting more and more frustrated, and having more and more tension build... Secondly, what version of Sonar are you using? 1.31 worked just fine with my Dakota and Sonar under Win XP. Third, I'd strongly suggest that once you get everything working properly, go out FIRST THING and get a copy of Norton Ghost and make a image of your hard disk drive... that way, if the poop hits the fan again, you can restore your C drive and be back in working condition... oh, you'll need a dedicated D drive for audio for the best results with this setup, but believe me, it CAN save a LOT of headaches, and can get you back online in minutes instead of the hours a OS install can take. Sorry things went so bad for you.
Dylan
It's probably due to how you have XP setup. Check out www.musicxp.net for setup and tweak settings. The most important tweak for XP is setting it up with ACPI disabled.
