Memory problems using DP3.01

Recommended Posts

I'm using Digital Performer 3.01 on a Mac G4 400, and when I start to get into a lot of tracks (say 30 mono and 9 stereo)it starts to run really sluggish. It looks like I'm really pushing the CPU processor to the max, But I'm disabling almost all of my plugins, and I just don't think I should be having this problem. Is this something anyone else is having problems with? Maybe switching to Logic or Cubase or something? Is this a Mac or a Performer problem.

This can be caused by: 1. Drive setup. Try to partition your audio drives into 5-10 GB partitions for maximum bang. (Hopefully you are using a seperate drive for audio...) 2. Fragmented drives. Make sure your drives are defragged regularly. 3. Buffer settings. Read the manual on appropriate buffer settings for DP. (I'm at work right now with no manual handy...) I have a G3 500 and can get about as many tracks as you have when all conditions are optimal, with a few plugs to boot. Drew
