LiveMusic
My gosh, I just read where since 1950, soft drink consumption has gone up 500% in the USA. Surpasses all other drinks, including water. 54 gallons of soft drinks consumed per person per year. I know for sure I have drank too many of them. Diet Coke. I kicked the habit (except for when with Jack Daniels, If You Please) a few weeks ago because I got to worrying about all that aspartame artificial sweetener. Not to mention all that acid. Man, 54 gallons. How many ounces is in a gallon? I wonder how many 12 oz cans that is? I drink a LOT of water but I really need to give up soft drinks for good. There ain't a damn thing good about them. I forget how much sugar's in a real coke but it's SHOCKING. > > > [ Live! ] < < <
FoxTick
128oz = 1 gallon 54 x 128 = 6912 6912 / 12 = 576 12oz cans with 24 cans to a case.. that's 24 cases, which boils down to 2 cases (48 12oz cans) a month  0096 2251 2110 8105
offramp
Not in MY household, mister. Try more like three cans a year, IF that. I've upped my standards; now, up yours.
Eric Worthington
I hardly drink any, either. Think of how much other people must be drinking to make up for it. Of course, if you total my annual intake of coffee....or beer....or other unmentionables.....OUCH!

SFOracle
Okay - now figure 576 cans of Coke, each one has 40g or 10 tsp of sugar. That adds up to 5760 tps or 23Kg of sugar. The Bear Jew
I dunno. I like sodas. I guess I'll just die and leave a big sweet, acidic corpse someday. Duke, You mentioned "Jack Daniels If You Please" in another thread as well... I know this is OT, but are you a David Allan Coe fan? \m/ Erik "To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." --Sun Tzu

My only problem with him is that song (which is otherwise a FABULOUS song) with the n-word. Man, why'd he have to do that. Just really screws it up. Of course, I grew up with a whole parish (I mean, county) of rednecks, actually an entire state, actually entire region, and I figure... there are other singers that I like that have put stupid stuff in songs, so... what the hey. I sure like his songs. Several... "You Never Even Called By My Name," "Mona Lisa Lost Her Smile," "The Ride," and that one I mentioned would be, too... "If that ain't country"... are awesome songs. > > > [ Live! ] < < <

[/quote]Duke... Thought you might be a DAC fan. Me too -- I think I might be the only Yankee who even knows he exists. Tell you what, his use of the "N-word" in "If That Ain't Country" doesn't bug me much (because it's being spoken in character as a colloquialism,) but I know what you mean. I kinda cringe when I hear that one as well. I forced my bandmates to listen to his stuff when we toured recently. Now they wanna cover "Cheap Thrills" in a metal/hardcore style. Sweet, huh? He seems to seriously have tapped into some elements of the human condition with his writing. Man, I was on tour in GA when I heard "Field Of Stone" on the radio. Whooo. Been there. Again, I know this is WAYYY OT, but have you noticed how often he mentions his own name in his music? He almost sounds like a rapper when he does that. \m/ Erik "To fight and conquer in all your battles is not supreme excellence; supreme excellence consists of breaking the enemy's resistance without fighting." --Sun Tzu
Dak Lander
Does Barley Pop count? I can't remember the last time I had a soda. I'll toss down a cervesa or two & If it's Rum, it's on the rocks, Vodka with Black Cherry Water or Club Soda. Jeez, that stuff will not only rot your teeth & rust your pipes but if you use it to mix with, it's the biggest cause of hangovers. Lee Flier
Yuck! I can't imagine. I hate soft drinks of any kind. Our bass player drinks tons of Diet Mountain Dew. He brings a whole bottle of it to band practice AND keeps an emergency stash in the fridge at all times in case he runs out. Man that shit is NASTY! Not to mention when you pour it out into a glass it looks like piss, so of course he always pours a big glass and sets it on stage so the whole audience must think he's drinking piss! --Lee

Wiggum
I probably drink twice that much soda in a year. Think about it.... Soda (pop) is now sold in 20 oz plastic bottles. And you can even get 32 oz bottles (that's half a two liter folks!). And apparently we weren't pouring it quicly enough, as many companies have moved toward the larger bottle finish (dubbed the BIG SLAM). Even malt liquor is being packaged with the 1" diameter opening  . Wiggum
