musicians moving AWAY from nyc

where would you go? I moved here when I was 23 to go to music school. I'm now 33 and still working a part time day gig and don't want to anymore. I'm a decent guitarist (by NYC standards) and better than decent composer/arranger. I can play most styles pretty well and can write convincingly in most styles of western music. I just want to make a reasonable middle class living at something that I've spent my entire life working on. If you want to hear what I've done here's a link. http://artists.mp3s.com/artists/242/karl_wenninger.html I'm also a very bad mastering engineer. I totaly butchered some of these tracks in t-racks. Will go back and try to fix them when I have the time. I'm not leaving anytime soon, sometime in the next 5-10 years suggestions? where do you guys live, and can you make financial ends meet there? kbw

I guess it all depends on what you want to do with music. I live in Southern California and know quite a few guys who make a decent living doing the bar/cover band gig. Also a lot of dudes make the good cash doing the studio circuit. But you need to know people for that.
