My Meager Studio

Recommended Posts

I really love my set-up though! Since starting to seriously get into recording over the last couple of years, and subsequently opening my basement studio for "business", I have been real fortunate to do what I love parttime. I have been able to get some great advice on this site, and wanted to share with you guys the fruits of my labor. I put up a very simple webpage with songs from some clients I have had over the last year since I started doing this. Here is my set-up: Roland VS880 V-Expanded Roland VS880EX Yamaha MX 12/4 Board DBX 586 Dual Tube Mic Pre Alesis Point Seven Monitors/RA100 AMP AKG C3000 AKG C1000s Sennheiser ME80 Various shure and AT dynamic mics whirlwind snake 6 piece Tama drums Randall Commander + 4-10"s cab Marshall Combo/2-12"s Fender Bassman 2001 combo Hartke Bass Gremlin 3/4 Bass Charvel Electric Squire Venus Electric Yamaha Acoustic Taylor Acoustic Korg synth Now obviously my clients have used only some or all or none of the instruments. If your artists have an MP3 page or if you can get a real audio file on your site, that would be useful. I would certainly click and listen to your production talents but I (and most people) hate to wait for long downloads (Long on the internet is anything over 20 secs). It will increase your chances of feedback. Best of luck..

I am not sure what is taking so long to download, the page?, the songs?, I am using a cable modem and haven't had much problem. I wonder if it is the server that the page is on? Anyway, at this point, it is irrelevant. Moderator please delete this thread. -john

No way...don't delete this thread. It was the first thread I clicked on. I was interested. I just took a bunch of pictures of my "meager setup" and want to get some software and do the Master Zap thing. I, too have learned a lot hanging around here. I've also been the recipient of some REAL good tidings. (Thanks Dan)

John, For some reason, I'm only getting the first 8 seconds of your tune. I'll try again later. Your setup is quite impressive. I like your sound and your voice a lot, as I've stated in the past. And I still hate the Laker$. Dr Destructo, How's it goin', bro? Havin' fun with your goodies? Dan

I am not sure why that is happening Dan. I download it again, from my computer at home, and it plays the whole song fine.(downloaded in 12 seconds) I think that the webspace that my ISP provides me with might be a little shotty. I am in the process of setting up a personal site, that will "house" my studio site, and I hope to be able to put that on a better, faster, more reliable server. I certainly do appreciate any attempts at listening to some of this stuff. The first and last songs are my particular favorites. -john P.S. Dan, the quadraverb has been used on some recent recordings I hope to have mastered and up somewhere in the near future. It also has made its way into my live rig too!!! THANKS AGAIN!!!

Audio Maverick, Thanks, that song was a lot of fun to record! The drummer had a huge 28" bass drum on this one! These guys wanted a sort of live room feel, so I mic'd the drums, kick, snare, and two overheads, the bass, and used a mic about 5 feet away on the guitar. The guitar that you hear except during the solo, is the bleed through from the drum overheads, and then I dialed in the guitar mic for the solo. The rest was overdubbed, harp, vocal, and BK vocals, to make it appear that this was all going on at once. Thank you very much for checking it out.
