Whats the differance between a jazz artist and a country musician?

Recommended Posts

Pickers drink their fifths and jazz cats flat their fifths.

There's Charlie Parker and there's Miles, there's Trane. I'm none of those guys, so why am I beating myself up trying to find the lost chord all the time?

When Jazz guys play a mistake, they just repeat it a few times under different chord changes till it sounds right.

Country guys play rock licks from thirty five years ago.

(Yeah, I admit it's not a very good punchline....let's try again)

Jazz guys smoke pot in the alley. Country guys smoke pot behind the barn.

Ahhh well, I give up.

That's why I like Western Swing so much...

you get both...evolving into neither.....but has the better qualities of each, without the annoyances (no Shania Twain-esque crap in Patsy Cline, and Eldon Shamblin could give ANY jazz virtuoso a run for his money...)

So What ARE We Gonna Do With 8 Tracks...Fire the Arranger?

Jazz cats die from a combination of starvation, heroin and malaise.

Country stars die with a blood Jack Daniels level of .60, a handfull of Oxycotin, percocet and darvon in their stomachs while crashing their monster trucks while screaming, "Hey ya'll.... watch this! Yeeeeeeeeehahhhhhh!!!!!!!!!"
