JES
Check the "General" board at www.tapeop.com . They've got a short thread on the Oktava up again the Royer (Royer wins, no surprise). I can't post a direct link because they use funky frames. But it's on the first page of the "general" section of the discussion board. Best, --JES
Philip OKeefe
I like the Oktava MC012 condensers, but have not heard their ribbon mics, so I can't comment regarding them. But if you're willing to entertain a differetn suggestion, I'd say you should look for a used Beyer M260 or M160 ribbon mic. They're not Royers, but equally as cool. Opinions are like rear ends, but I'm not alone on this one. Fletcher seems to like the Beyers too.
