not coaster MODERATOR
2 q's 1) we're talking Mac 9.2 - Norton won't let me defrag the native drive because OS is there. This doesn't happen on my PC. Need a solution. 2) I don't want to install Norton Virus check. Too invasive, right? How do I check for viruses? Is there a good web service that will do this? I know that Hallmark (or something like that) works good on PC.
MojoHaiku
In order to defrag the disk where the OS lives, you need to run Speed Disk from the Norton CD (choose it as your startup disk, and then run Speed Disk once the system boots up from the Norton CD). As far as Norton AntiVirus goes -- it is only as invasive as you want it to be. For example, you could leave it off and then run AntiVirus from time to time to check your system, or you can leave it on and select how agressively you want it to be checking files. You can get updates for virus definitions quite easily on the web. I have Norton AntiVirus at home on my G4, and at work on my PC. No complaints.
