where02190
I took the original 15" speaker that was in my '62 B-15-N cab (I replaced it with an E-V force series) and made it into a kic sub mic, suspended inside an old no name 24" kick drum, with a pinstripe on the other end. When I want massive, over the bottom bottom that's what I use. I've also got a 10" speaker from an old set of (I think) pioneer home speakers that I use more regularly. The bottom is phat but not ridiculous, like the 15". I do the same thing, suspend it with bungee cords in the 24" shell. OFten I'll put a Beta 52 behind it inside the shell of the 24" as well, and an MS91 inside. Another option instead of the 91 is a 57 stuffed up to the beater impact point, with the snare in the null. Hope this is helpful. NP Recording Studios Analog approach to digital recording.
