external harddrive needs exorsist

[Silloh]

brand new just out of box western didgital,

usb-2 harddrive, was working fine, doing tracks

with cubase-vst-5 on a pentium-4 pc, with

1024mb ram after adding a reverb plug-in all hell

broke loose & i swear i heard satan himself

talking backwards!every thing was all jumbled up,

sounded like all the files playing all at one time only out of order.

anyway now the blue icon is no longer there

some of the files show up like they are there

but will not play., oh yea & when i reboot i get

a blue screen that says "cannot write to this drive"

have i lost my songs?,are the files still there?
