Alndln
After touring/recording for over 30 years I can't seem to shut my eyes until after 7:00 am or so.The morning sun makes me feel like a vampire.Between 2:00 and 4:00 am are usually when I do most writing unless I'm uninspired, which means I'm visiting places like this instead. "A Robot Playing Trumpet Blows"
Chip McDonald
Originally posted by popmusic: Or... Who here has a best time of day for working on/playing music? And why?
I think I have a problem with playing music when it's daytime. Or.. wait... I think I just have a problem with daytime in general... (it's only 3:36 am...) aeon
I am a night owl - I generally sleep from 5am to noon. Best times for music for me are in the afternoon, i.e., 2pm-4pm after waking, meditation and a walk/bicycle ride, or in the still hours from 1am-4am. Go tell someone you love that you love them. Mats Olsson.
All work and no fun makes Jack a dull boy. Normally, I do like two shifts, one of wich is typical business hours (10am-6pm) at office and/or mastering studio then I stroll back home and live family life (if we don't go to a club or restaurant) 'til late bedtime. Then, at about 3 am I often wake up and do things at my home office (or watch movies) for 2 or 3 hours. And after that second shift I get some more sleep for a few hours. Often I get up at 8am. Some evenings + weekends I work in our recording studio (I can't expect our other staff members to work 7 days a week, at least not every week ;) ). We have had people who wanted to work A LOT every single day, but we don't approve that anymore - often it ends in a very sad situation with lot's of problems. All people need a good social life and regularly some time off work. Back in the old days, when I was on the road a lot, I was a real night creature. It did no good for me, lots of broken relationships and difficulties to have a good social life outside of work and it eventually became a severe health problem for me as well (fortunately, no drugs involved). There are people who can balance it good, but I'm not one of them. /Mats http://www.lexam.net/peter/carnut/man.gif What do we want? Procrastination! When do we want it? Later! Skip_dup1
the times I`m at my most active mentally are mostly when I`m supposed to be sleeping-usually 11 p.m.-2 a.m. I`ve been doing the day job forever and paying the price too, in terms of being 75% awake much of the day. I`m trying to work toward setting my own schedule (telecommuting rules), but I`m not there yet. For a while I was with a group that finished gigs at two or three a.m. and then went out for a meal-the food hit me harder than the fatigue.
