mwestenberg
Jeez, don't start listening to Metallica or KoRn or anything like that then... Lyrics. Wasted space between solos. I can't tell you, but I can play it for you.
whitefang
Never cared a whole lot for that one, but Aerosmith DOES provide so many great alternatives. Hard NOT to find a few that get ya goin'! Whitefang I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!

Those ilk are not, uh, "my bag, baby". Y'know what I mean, though? Some grooves are just so good, so raunchy, so smooth, so sexy, so killer all at once; you kinda wake up and go "FUuuuuuCK!" Go, Brad Whitford, GO! Aerosmith have always had a certain saucyness to some of their grooves that has been unparalleled. "Elevator" is, IMHO, the number one, followed by "Back In The Saddle" I've upped my standards; now, up yours.

Tedster
I love Aerosmith. I mean...except one bad experience I had at an Aerosmith concert (thanks to Sandstone overselling the venue and too much blocked-view seating)...but, I don't even count that as an Aerosmith concert. But, I digress. Their stuff is great, IMO...it lasts. They're one of the great long-lasting bands of our time. Their tunes rock, they're melodic...and "Lovin' An Alligator" is a great tune. BTW...did anyone notice their little nod to the Beatles in their video for "Jaded"? They were all playing Beatles'-type instruments, an old Hofner bass, Gretsch Tennessean, and Lennon-style Ric. Tedster
What Lee said. Seriously, the "Foreigner" thing...when I was playing a bar years ago...EVERY SINGLE TIME the jukebox played it was either "Head Games" or "Urgent". I got so fucking sick of those songs it completely soured me on Foreigner. I think it's that Aerosmith has a larger catalog than Foreigner...because of being around so long prior and after. To me, Boston and Foreigner are a lot the same, not because they sound the same, but because of the "same 4 or 5 cuts off the same 2 or three LPs" phenomenon. With Aerosmith, it's the same 10-15 cuts off the same 15-20 albums. "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
offramp
The only experience I've had with an Aerosmith concert was the first "comeback" tour...y'know, one of the "we've cleaned up our shit" things. Looonnng time ago...I wanna say early '80's(?). I was a photographer in the pit. I could see under the curtain as they were getting ready to take the stage. Tyler was winding himself up, and threw a small bag of coke at me. It hit the curtain and fell into the hem. he later spit in my direction. Tom Hamilton just stared at me. He made Entwhistle look like a standup comic. Overall, it was a good show, though. I've upped my standards; now, up yours.

LIAE has always have quite a "stimulating" effect on me rather than one of destruction. Another good one is You Oughta Know by Alanis Morrisette.... the Theater part. If you want to break shi... after LIAE; you'd probably want to start World War III after hearing YOK by Alanis You can take the man away from his music, but you can't take the music out of the man. Anifa
Oh, you're ONE OF THOSE.... you throw your arms up in the air and start hammering down. No wonder you need a whole Board of Directors; no self containment. What is it with Drummers wanting to bang everything in reach? You can take the man away from his music, but you can't take the music out of the man. I have had a very low tolerance for Aerosmith's post RUN-DMC material. I can't stand the way it sounds. I can't take Tyler's voice. It all sounds blaring-ly loud and fatiguing to the ears. I recall a Saturday Night Live skit where they were doing a parody of Aerosmith's "Get a Grip" album, in which every song was the same, except the lyrics were always a different combination of the words "Cryin'," "Amazing," and "Crazy" 'Crazy...amazing....I'm cryin' cause yer crazy' It was so funny, because those songs really do sound pretty much alike. So Tedster, maybe Aerosmith does have 15 different songs playing on the radio. But hey, if you're a one-trick-pony, what difference does it make?....it all sounds like the same song. Nope, I'm going with Foreigner on this one. Aerosmith was cool in the 70's. "Dream On" was a great tune, but their new stuff just makes me grind my teeth. <right back atcha, Lee> Super 8 Hear my stuff here
Bryson
I can't even look at Tyler anymore. All that face work he's had makes him look like Joan Rivers. Pathetic.
