Logic user....

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to be convinced to change my DAW from Cubase VST 4 to Logic. I find cubase very workable (when it doesn't crash) , I work with a lot of midi and few audio track (up to 16) but am looking into mixing more inside the DAW - I'm looking into changing since : 1. All pro's around are using it, and I'm told it's better integrated to PT (for mixing) 2. I miss sample accurate audio editing and hate the fades in cubase. Thanks, let the war begin ------------------ Visit http://www.DarlingNikkie.com/sounds for free MP3's

Thanks you guys , I'ce checked those forums but they are really small compare to this forum or even syeinberg one.... Anyways, I've played a bit with logic Demo, and notice that logic is not 32 bit floating etc... Do we care about that kind of stuff ? I still don't know which way I'll go, thanks ------------------ Visit http://www.DarlingNikkie.com/sounds for free MP3's

This is obviously my own opinion but I was a logic user for about 3 years and in the last year have switched to Nuendo. Personaly I Loved logic but always loved the Pro tools interface for editing so when I Messed with Nuendo I was like, Yeah this is almost like Pro tools. So bye bye logic, but I must say that if logic had an sample accurate editing interface and offline processing feature I would be right back with logic. I does GREAT mid as well which nuendo does not. See personally I like the way Logic sounds, I don't know how to explain it (so don't ask me to) but it sounds different to my ears and I like it's sound better. I need the editing features which I personally don't like in logic or any app other than Pro tools or Nuendo. I down right can't stand Cubase for some reason, even though Nuendos gui is based on the cubase look it still feels night and day to Nuendo. Hope this helps in some way KBP

Yeah, I've played around with logic demo yesterday and have to say so far I'm not that impress. No sample accourate editing, corss fade worse then cubase... Don't get me wrong, it's my first day with it and I'm learning, but so far it didn't do it for me. Also , no defualt key command for locators? and adding one object at a time in the enviroment seems to slow the proccess down. Hope it gets better with the new upgrade. I'll mess with it some more and let you know... As for PT or Nuendo - I need midi. I loved PT audio editing but the midi part didn't seem to hold it's place compare to ligic or cubase. ------------------ Visit http://www.DarlingNikkie.com/sounds for free MP3's

"The sequencer you like is the sequencer you know" always struck me as a pretty valid. All sequencers are so complex that they have a zillion features, some implemented more successfully than others. Hardcore Logic users would rather die than switch to something else, and Cubase fans can be equally rabid...but not as rabid as MOTU fans, who like everything about the program except the tech support. There are so many downloadable trial versions that you really have a chance to compare products over a period of time, in your own studio. A lot of times, your choice will be based on totally personal, subjective reasons.

I was hoping for your input. since I read you are using Logic and you had a chance checking all DAWs around I was hoping for you to explian why YOU chose Logic. I've been using Cubase for ever and have mastered it. Hated the process of transfering to PT for mixing, but guess that wont be much easier in Logic since I have to record all midi to audio anyway... I've been playing with Logic demo and have to say tgat I'm not yet convinced. I lovr the hyber draw, but the fades are even worse then Cubase. No one is doing auto fades like PT? Also , which audio card should I go to ? I own the korg 1212 but it time to go 24bit. All I realy need at the moment is a light pipe, and spdif. Was thinking in the line of hammerfall, What do you use? Any way , thanks for your reply. Eventhough its a safe one. was hoping for a DAW war Danny ------------------ Visit http://www.DarlingNikkie.com/sounds for free MP3's
