zeronyne Posted November 12 Posted November 12 Akai S5000 One day, I notice it’s squealing. Not a sample…the unit itself. pinpoint the issue….display is oscillating. Only solution is replacement. Temp solution is jamming paper between the layers of the display. So does anyone know where I could source a display for an S5000? "For instance" is not proof.

Finale Posted November 15 Posted November 15 Crystalfontz have great people, they were of great help to find and send me rare display components I needed some years ago. Open your machine, take pics of the display or contact them with the part number shown on it, etc. If discontinued, they likely will find you an equivalent, with possibly better appearance, clarity, color, etc.
Jim Alfredson Posted November 16 Posted November 16 I'm not familiar with that unit but does it use an electro-luminiscent backlight with a voltage inverter? Those are what usually whine in old synths. I try to replace those old LCD displays with new LED based displays in order to get rid of the inverter. Keep it greazy!
