I am from Valencia and, sadly, our province is known everywhere since the floods of 29th October. I live just about 10km from the worst affected area and I lived there some years ago and have plenty of friends who live there or who have relatives there.

Overall, the tragedy has got deep into my mind and my mood since that woeful day is not that good. We have not rehearsed during last weeks and I have not practiced at home, I just can't do it.

So, well, I know some of you have also suffered similar situations and for sure have overcome them. We have a gig next Saturday (in a week). We have decided to donate all income to help affected people. This is probably what will allow me to play as otherwise I would probably not do it. I hope this week helps to get my mindset ready for the gig.

Please, pray for all affected people 🙏🏻

Good luck with everything buddy, and happy to hear that you're safe!

Luckily my friends there are also okay (they live in the middle of the city center in Valencia city, which seems to have done okay).

My thoughts, energy, and love to y'all around there!!

I have not suffered like your countrymen, or mine down in NC, TN or FL -- but I was going to suggest your band perform as a fundraiser for a "Live Aid" type of event.  The money, as you say, is needed by those less fortunate than us; and after days/weeks of dealing with the flooding, other folks will need an uplifting positive event to boost their spirits.  Go forth with those positive thoughts in mind and know that you'll be helping others; that should help put you in the right frame of mind for the gig.

Good luck, and God Bless.

Sending prayers for you and your countrymen, Jose. I can’t imagine how you must be feeling. My only thought is that music — both playing it and listening to it — can be very cathartic and healing. Although your gig cannot eliminate the suffering and the long road before you all, it can serve as a respite, not only for you but for those who attend. Focus on those you will be helping, not only financially through your donations but emotionally. And perhaps you will, in turn, help yourself heal.

There have been times of extreme loss when I just wasn't into practicing. Rehearsals were excruciating. But after the gig I always felt it was worthwhile, and I was glad I did it. My heart goes out to you Jose, and my hope is that you will feel the same afterwards. Please follow up and let us know how it went.
