fziegler Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I even wasn't interested in that update, but fell into a multiple grace period. Having updated my Cubase Pro 11 just recently in order to switch from USB eLicenser to Steinberg Licensing got me a free upgrade first to Cubase 12, then 13, now 14. Lucky dumb. You should have a look: eLicenser servers will get deactivated in January, so that you won't be able any more to swap your USB licenses to another eLicenser stick or your soft licenses to another computer. Instead you should see how to change towards the new method Steinberg licensing - which is only possible from Cubase 12 onwards. Needs to be done before eLicenser servers get shut down.

Falling further behind (before you're completely off the radar) can save you a few bucks. But it also results in years without the new stuff.
CEB Posted November 7 Posted November 7 I remember these days of Cubase upgrades. I built Netware boxes and SQL servers and had to jump through fewer hoops than a Cubase install / upgrade. Hopefully it’s verification process is less painful these days. It was ridiculous. I quit after 6 and went to Reaper. 1 "It doesn't have to be difficult to be cool" - Mitch Towne "A great musician can bring tears to your eyes!!! So can a auto Mechanic." - Stokes Hunt

I skipped 13 because there wasn't anything really appealing to make me want to upgrade. Honestly there isn't much in 14 that makes me want to upgrade either but I'll just keep costing more each time you skip a version. Then again, if you look at what it costs to go from 11 (or any earlier version) to 14, it's only $249. That's at least three versions behind. Yet if you went from 11 to 12, from 12 to 13, and from 13 to 14, that would be $99 each time. So maybe it's actually cheaper to wait one more version. Keep it greazy! A score editor that doesn't look amd operate like it's 1994 broke me. I didn't upgrade to 13 either because it wasn't a priority for me, but those QoL features mixed with this version? The pull is a lot stronger. They probably won't because it's so fresh, but I'll still wait to see if they'll do a BF deal.
Mark Schmieder Posted November 10 Posted November 10 I upgraded after midnight last night so haven't had a chance to use it yet, but I notice the plug-in validation is now a gazillion times faster and doesn't crash, and the visual look of the app seems different to me and cleaner in its workflow, but I haven't checked the new features yet, such as the improved score editor or the drum editor. Sundown Posted November 10 Posted November 10 I haven’t seen much in 14 that has intrigued me. I passed on 13 as well, as I’ve got a stable v12 running. I’m curious what the range tool enhancements are (it is a powerful tool already), but that’s about it. I do have some good feature suggestions for Steinberg and I need to take the time to post them at their forum.
