CrossRhodes Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Another new offering from Rhodes Music. 14 Day free trial for my other Rhodes junkies out there! https://rhodesmusic.com/rhodes-anthology-plugin/ 1 Quote Jazz is the teacher, Funk is the preacher!
davinwv Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I'm definitely going to demo this, although I wish they would include a "specs" section on the product page. 1 Quote
marino Posted November 5 Posted November 5 The Sparkletop and the Mark Seven sound really sweet in the demos. No standalone version, though. 1 Quote

Paul Woodward Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I wonder how this compares to the EP-1 in the latest Korg Collection. Same price to upgrade to that and it also has the ARP and Vox engines. 1 Quote Korg Grandstage 73, Korg Keystage 61, Mac Mini M4, Logic Pro X (Pigments, Korg Collection 4, Wavestate LE, Sylenth), iPad Pro 13 M4, Scarlett 2i2, Presonus Eris E3.5

Forgive me for not quite understanding what you are asking, maybe this will help, hopefully. The V8 plug in comes in 2 versions, however both are samples of the new Rhodes EP built in England. The Rhodes Anthology is a single program with samples of "4 classic and rare Rhodes pianos". 5 different sample sets total 1 Quote

Stokely Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Curious how this stacks up against my best one, which is Scarbee ep88s. There's something I don't like about the "playability" of ep88s, almost as if there is a tiny bit of latency (that I don't have with other plugins). I know it's pretty highly regarded so not sure what's up with that. Also, Canterbury Suitcase. It was my first choice but I went with ep88s because its sale was better I really like Soniccouture and kinda wish I'd stuck with my first choice. Demos sound good to my ear! Quote

It's value changes depending upon what preset you load. Quote
Stokely Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I'll take a look at that for sure. It didn't even occur to me to look for a setting like that Come to think of it, I have similar issues with Sampletekk and maybe a couple other Kontakt libraries. I figured if anything it was a problem with Kontakt...I have other pianos I use a lot more so I didn't really try that hard to fix it. 1 Quote

The Pre-Attack Control definitely makes the EP-88S sound more realistic, but also can make it less playable. 1 Quote
obxa Posted November 5 Posted November 5 Mostly rotate between fabulous Orange Tree Sample and Scarbee88. They usually can be had cheap during BF. I still think they're the best (coming from a current 73 stage owner....) I've tweaked them side by side with the real thing, and they also tend to sit in mixes better than most others. BTW if you have Kontakt full version,, the factory EP is very likely Scarbee- and with some massaging, is a great (and free) option. I'm tempted on the Anthology plug in, because I get tired of Kontakt and prefer self contained plugs. Always liked the MarkV- and only option I've seen that on is the NeoPlug by Gospel Musicians.. That Anthology Mk1 dry was pretty darn good and sounded very legit.. Will have to demo it. I'm sorry I didn't post this link sooner. Rhodecase 88 by Virtuscape Audio They were very briefly blowing it out for $25. If you have any credits at Audio plugin deals you can still get it for just $26.00. It's a little quirky, and needs some additional Eq, but has been nice to have. . Quote Chris Corso www.chriscorso.org Lots of stuff.
Stokely Posted November 5 Posted November 5 I wouldn't mind diving into OTS, because I also use sampled guitars--until the universe ends or I learn to play guitar better, whichever comes first-- and theirs are known to be some of the best. I get a bit confused by the orange slices loyalty thing though Quote

I tried V8 Pro and wasn't too fond of the default, but the different voicing presets on that pushed it to my overall top Rhodes library out there. Quote

That being said, it sounds great overall. 4 different Rhodes eras, excellent effects, excellent GUI. Would be a great choice for someone who needs a Rhodes VST and wants variety. As I already own V8 PRO, Scarbee Rhodes, Scarbee EP 88 and Orange Tree "Famous E", it's not on my radar currently. Were I ever to abandon Kontakt for whatever reason, I would replace the latter 3 with Rhodes Anthology. Hope this helps Quote

The overall character was great, took me a bit to get the velocity curve dialled in. My V8 demo expired months ago, so can't compare with recent experience. Can the V8 Sparkletop presets actually sound like the Sparkletop in Anthology? Quote
