Yamaha CK88 outputs

Recommended Posts

Yes, you can assign different outputs to different patches on the Yamaha CK88, this allows you to route specific sounds to different outputs, such as assigning the bass to the left output and the piano to the right output. This feature provides great flexibility for your live or studio setup.

Unless there’s an update I’ve missed, on the CK Yamaha’s there is no way to route/ pan to separate outputs.  I’d love it to be so, for the exact reason mentioned here.

Pop in a request on Ideascale but, as far as I am aware, the CK has had no updates since launch. Not sure it can be updated in the same way the YC range can.

I think the lack of this feature just emphasises its budget status.

On the other hand, Roland, Kurzweil and Korg all offer this on similarly priced boards.

I'd say there actually isn't that difference among the brands, if you look at the products that are comparable not just in price but also in the kind of board they are (i.e. design approach and target market). Roland's VR-09/VR-730 and Korg's Vox Continental (the closest these companies have come to a CK) don't pan sounds either. Yes, the Juno DS and Korg Kross do, but so does the Yamaha MX. But yeah, I think the omission of pan on all of those boards is an unfortunate design decision.

Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug! Our now not-so-new new video at https://youtu.be/3ZRC3b4p4EI is a 40 minute adaptation of T. S. Eliot's "Prufrock" - check it out! And hopefully I'll have something new here this year. ;-)

I think time has moved on since the Roland VR/Korg Vox-C. Roland now has RD08/88/FA07/08 to cover that area and Korg has the Nautilus. I guess Korg could do with a drawbar laden organ centric board.

We can see, even in this forum, that the lack of panning/assignable outputs is putting some people off and, presumably, causing them to go for RD08/88, Kross/Juno D/DS etc

This guy either uses a primitive form of AI for his answers or he has a very special edition of the CK that literally no one else has. 🤦‍♂️ The CK88de version.
