sunspot
Hell, I'm still stuck on Monterey since it was the last OS X that supports Firewire audio interfaces (of which I own three and all still work fine). Bobadohshe
I just made sure to upgrade everything to Sonoma yesterday so that I'm ready to stay parked here for a good long while. Plan on riding it out until the wheels come off of Finale. 2 Quote Kawai C-60 Grand Piano : Hammond A-100 : Hammond SK2 : Yamaha CP4 : Yamaha Montage 7 : Moog Sub 37 My latest album: Funky organ, huge horn section https://bobbycressey.bandcamp.com/album/cali-native

CyberGene
I’m always on the dev betas, months before official release 😀 Yeah, I’m not a pro, nor a gigging musician.

It’s been my MO, stay one (or two) generations behind, and only update just before the next release, usually they are on a .5 or .6 of the current version by then and most relevant software is compatible. Previous OSen are readily available even after the new version drops, and have always been. You used to need to find the download page on Apple's support site, but these days, you can just search for, e.g., "macOS Ventura" on the App Store, and it will show you the download. 1 Quote "The Angels of Libra are in the European vanguard of the [retro soul] movement" (Bill Buckley, Soul and Jazz and Funk) The Drawbars | off jazz organ trio
zephonic
Man, turns out my classic Mac QWERTY keyboard does not work with Sonoma, which is odd because the classic mouse connected via the keyboard continues to operate as before. And I can't figure out how to make the F1-F12 keys behave like oldskool "function" keys? Also, my Echo 20 dock now connects via USB instead of thunderbolt, weird. Not loving the update so far. Considering reverting back to Monterey. zephonic
So after some googling I have concluded the USB keyboard thing is not gonna be resolved on Sonoma or future OS'es, but my wife had an Logitech MX Keys lying around and not using it, so that solves my most pressing issue: using the MBP in clamshell mode. Using F1-12 as oldskool function keys can be found in the Keyboard Shortcuts submenu, so that's resolved as well. Remaining mystery is how to get the Echo 20 dock to revert back to Thunderbolt from USB 4. Then again, once upon a time in the not too distant past, new OSes weren't released EVERY 12 FREAKIN MONTHS. It has made another ancient TV as useful as the day I got it. It runs all the apps including Apple TV+. The Mac mini is the most affordable entry into Mac hardware. I don’t believe I’ll ever pick another model. Best Buy carries plenty of other brand keyboards, mice and monitors that work just fine with Apple silicon. Superior to Apple TV in every way except for the ads. And I had remotes go bad on the older ones. Other than that, Apple TV is just overpriced and honestly not as good. I loved the old ones, still have two of those but they are no longer supported. Apple used to be awesome. Now they're lucky the competition is Windows and Android, the combination of which does not offer the same kind of integration. I guess Tim Cook was smart to turn it into a luxury brand, but it is no longer the plucky, innovative company it once was. And they keep claiming green aspirations but planned obsolescence is anything but. 1 Quote local: Korg Nautilus 61 AT | Yamaha MODX8 away: GigPerformer | 16" MBP M1 Max home: Kawai RX-2 | Korg D1 | Roland Fantom X7

I have no 4k TVs, so I passed on replacing it with Apple’s box. I still prefer macOS and Logic/Mainstage/Final Cut. The family only wants iPhones so I get refurbs and the iPad is pretty indispensable for me gigging wise (also refurb).
