Phil Aiken
Since replacing my long lost Voyager Electric Blue, I've had it going directly into a couple of inputs in my DAW. I recently did some rearranging and it is now going into a mixer with a bunch of other synths. It is evident that the output level is much lower than my other mono synths going into that same mixer. The headphone output seems normal. and there are no pedals connected. With sufficient gain it still sounds great and the SNR is, by ear, just fine. I am wondering if something is wrong with the output VCA. Can any other Voyager owners confirm/deny that the level is just low compared to other instruments? Bardraws
Now that I've won the minimal number of posts per decade, I think I can contribute to this one. I don't see a gain difference on the mixer with my Voyager XL next to other analogs, E.g. Jono 106. Some digital's are running hotter (MPC, hydrasynth) Cheers! 1 Quote ==================================== Hammond C3 / 122; Rhodes Suitcase 73 Mk 1; Roland JP6, Juno 106, TR8s; Moog Voyager Xl, Matriarch, Subsequent 37; Nord stage 4 compact; ASM Hydrasynth desktop
The Real MC
The Mix In/Out jack on the rear panel is a normalled jack. The normalled contacts may had gone dodgy, which can cause signal loss. Try inserting/removing a plug in that jack multiple times. It may be enough to make the contacts work again. Or build a TRS shorting plug by shorting tip to ring. Mark Schmieder
I would say my Voyager runs hotter than other synths I have owned. I think Real MC's advice might get you to a diagnosis; there is DEFINITELY a problem. You could also spray the jacks with CAIG's DeOxit (or maybe the gold version; my Voyager is packed away and I forget which metals it uses for its jacks). Normalled contacts are notorious for going a bit dodgy though, and I do remember some quirks with various jacks on the Voyager, but forget what they were.
