doug osborne
I had a chance to see Tom Dowd & the Language Of Music at a Lammele theater in Los Angeles over the weekend IMDB listing . I can't imagine anyone here who wouldn't be thrilled seeing this. Dowd's history with prewar pop, '50s R&B, rock 'n roll, '60s psychedelia, '70s southern rock, etc., etc., etc., set him apart from his peers. He was a part of the Manhattan project, so to him, yes, recording was neuclear physics! I liked seeing him use some of my company's products, but the view of life in the recording studio took it way past personal satisfaction. The website has a schedule for theatrical showings, but it is scheduled for DVD release in September, anyway. Philip OKeefe
They played it on TV shortly after Tom died... and I made darned sure I taped it. It's a classic, and I'll definitely be getting the DVD as soon as it's available. When it comes to great producers and engineers, Tom was definitely one of the best of all time. One of my biggest musical heroes.
Duddits
I'm slated to see it tomorrow. I'm looking forward to it, but part of me wants to go to Manchurian Candidate instead.... Dooby Dooby Doo

rebonn
I saw it on tv after he died. Very inspiring to me learning a very sought after nuclear physicist chose instead to record bands and produce. www.blairsdevillestudios.com
doug osborne
They're exhibiting it for possible Academy Award qualification, and to stir up interest for the DVD release. The filmmaker is apparently working on a "Temples of Sound" doc based on the great book about recording studios. This guy must be a serious geek.
