TommyRude
In the interview he talks about Blackbird and how the song wanders around whilst one note holds throughout. Fantastic. MAJUSCULE
As far as the discussion over whether or not Brad has contributed any "standards" to the canon... I think we can all agree that there aren't many modern tunes being added the way they were in the early and mid 20th century. His treatment of pop and rock tunes certainly has pushed that side of things. If I had to name a tune of his that I would say gets played a decent amount on modern gigs, especially trio gigs, though, it's "When It Rains". Largo is a seminal record. 1 Quote Eric Website Gear page

Sam Mullins
After listening to the new Beatles cover album a few times…overall I like it a lot. The exceptions are For No One, which I found a little undeveloped (probably because of hearing Fred Hersch’s sublime covers of same song) and Maxwell’s Silver Hammer which I found meandering. otherwise good stuff! jjo
I am a huge fan. His concert with Chris Thile was one of the best I've ever seen. With that warning, one of my favorite recordings is his trio version of And I Love Her. While I love the whole vibe of the recording, the part at the end (after playing the head out) blows me away every time.
Montunoman 2
I finally had a chance to listen, and really enjoyed it! I knew his name but hadn’t really checked him out too much. Most of my listening time is centered 40’s,50’s and early 60’s bebop, hard bop, straight ahead jazz. Also the Latin and pop I have to learn for gigs, plus church music I play every Sunday. Between all of that, there not much of time to absorb a lot other artists, but Brad Mehdau is now on my playlists, and I was inspired to work up some solo piano jazz arrangements of some Beatles tunes. Thanks for posting the interview
