bill5 Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 Watermelons everywhere are safe. Always liked his stuff, never thought he got enough credit. And he had my favorite one-liner of all time: "Does Joe Jackson HAVE to be in his videos?" RIP 1 Quote
mate stubb Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 RIP Mr. Watermelon Man. Met him on the road years ago and partied a bit. Down to earth and naturally funny. 1 Quote Moe ---
Shamanzarek Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 I have tried to find Watermelon with seeds like we had in the old days but nobody has them anymore. I wanted to see if they taste as good as I remember. The seedless melons I have gotten lately just don't taste sweet enough. I now use Watermelons for making Watermelon Gazpacho and the taste isn't a critical factor for that. 1 Quote Gibson G101, Fender Rhodes Piano Bass, Vox Continental, RMI Electra-Piano and Harpsichord 300A, Hammond M102A, Hohner Combo Pianet, OB8, Matrix 12, Jupiter 6, Prophet 5 rev. 2, Pro-One, CS70M, CP35, PX-5S, WK-3800, Stage 3 Compact
David Emm Posted November 12, 2022 Posted November 12, 2022 I got to see him live and knew enough to buy tickets out of watermelon range.💥 He had a weirdly dry wit I loved. I'll never forget this one: G: "Which would you rather have, your car or a flying saucer?" crowd: "Flyin' saucer!" G: "Well let's get the Japanese to build 'em for us, they love to be busy!" 👍 Quote This place is almost as good as that cartoon where She-Hulk helps Santa Claus kick Hitler in the @$$.
S_Gould Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 Ran into him one night, he was buying a pint of ice cream at a convenience store as I walked in (his mother & brother lived nearby). Nice enough "regular guy'; only exchanged a few words. Saw him several times over the years, always in front, suitably covered (gotta have the full experience ). Quote

I totally agree that they have bred the taste out of most of the heirloom breeds. I find them at Amish communities and farm stands, never in grocery stores. Quote Moe ---
Shamanzarek Posted November 13, 2022 Posted November 13, 2022 Thanks. We have a couple of Amish markets nearby. Watermelons are now out of season but will keep in mind for next year. 1 Quote Gibson G101, Fender Rhodes Piano Bass, Vox Continental, RMI Electra-Piano and Harpsichord 300A, Hammond M102A, Hohner Combo Pianet, OB8, Matrix 12, Jupiter 6, Prophet 5 rev. 2, Pro-One, CS70M, CP35, PX-5S, WK-3800, Stage 3 Compact
