Theo Verelst Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Perfection is a little further, at least in the sense that my global effects to "correct" and improve the sound based on built in studio signal components in the VAST machinery, can sound pretty grans in various ways, like various piano kinds, different production effects on sounds, etc. , but the current compromise to make the sounds aliasing poor, straight, full range, and suitable for the Kurzweils DAC makes the mix sound a certain set of ways, not necessarily my preferences. But, very clearly, these sounds (in principle all ROM sounds work if you'd want to try, except they aren't always what the name suggests) don't sound thin and digital anymore the way most digital sounds sound. ANd for the PC3, there's too much accuracy, low end, and working high frequency range. Exaggerated? No, check out this short 5 track recording from the built in sequencer you can load into your own PC3 as well, it's got mainly synthesizer sounds in there, for fun: s2048tv44124.flac 44.1kS/s stereo , lossless 24 bit flac 40s s2048tv44124.mp3 idem, 256kbps float mp3 The recording was done with a Lexicon Omega from the digital output from the PC3, usb connected with a PC running Fedora 36 with pipewire, adjusted to 44100Hz. Here's the PC3 "song+effects" download file for PC3 and descendants (I suppose) to load in your own keyboard: s2048tv.pc3 The rhythm and the tracks have been played live, most on the PC3-76 keyboard except track 1, and aren't monotonous to essentially test the sounds and their combination in the in-machine mix, which is working incomparably better than without the corrections. Like before, these AUX2 effect, master EQ master Multi Compression and per track volume and balance settings are accurate, for the effect, you shouldn't change anything about any of them, or the sound is lost again. You can change the presets for the used tracks 1,3,4,5,10 and enjoy their improved sounding characteristics! Theo V Quote
