ChazKeys Posted October 12, 2022 Posted October 12, 2022 Guido is on a roll now. I was hoping he would start porting models from the Gemini to the iPad and the latest release the Electrochestra, is the model found in the Gemini. The latest FB post is a video that has a picture of a trumpet - so could Milestones be next? That would be the same model or close to the one on the Gemini. Other recent iPad apps: Roland Space Echo Wem CopyCat Krill There are others and some are based on previous Mac/PC releases. Could we see Gemini Tine and Reed models on the iPad next? Quote

Of course you are (he's recycling his work rather than creating them from scratch, that's why the sounds are rolling out so fast), HOWEVER the Clav in the Gemini is physically modeled whereas the IOS version will be a sample-based version from those modeled sounds. Will it sound as rich and authentic as the modeled sound of the Gemini? I'll wait for you to report those results. 😀 Quote 57 Hammond B3; 69 Hammond L100P; 68 Leslie 122; Kurzweil Forte7 & PC3; M-Audio Code 61; Voce V5+; Neo Vent; EV ELX112P; GSI Gemini & Burn Delaware Dave Exit93band
CyberGene Posted October 13, 2022 Posted October 13, 2022 I’m wondering if he would also provide iPhone apps, not just iPad ones. VB3m is available for both. The latest iPhones are more powerful than older iPads. For instance My iPhone 13 Pro Max is so much faster than my iPad Pro first gen. And I’m really happy with the VB3m on the iPhone, so I would also purchase the other apps if they get iPhone versions. Quote

The problem is he has to come up with another GUI to fit and function on the iPhone screen. He might do this later with an update. Quote Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-560
AnotherScott Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 The hidden eye-opener is in the comments for the Oct 2 post about the string machine app... Since the two devices have different screen ratios, there are two black lines above/below or left/right which I guess is an automatic thing in iOS, not something he had to do. I would assume you can reuse one and same UI without any change whatsoever but again, maybe it depends on the actual UI. Here are the two screenshots. Quote

Yes... here's the image of the app he's running in the post, and it does say modeled. He's not actually running it on the iPad, it's still in its prototyping environment, but based on its accompanying hashtags (#auv3 #ipad) we seem to know where it's heading... It all depends on how well the GUI translates to the various screen sizes both in scaling and usability and if GSi and the users are satisfied with how it looks and functions. It’s definitely much easier in the long run if the graphics are the same and scale correctly. Quote Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-560
Stokely Posted October 18, 2022 Posted October 18, 2022 I would also prefer if apps could run on an iphone. My current iphone is more powerful than my current ipad. While I occasionally do use the ipad's interface I map most things (and could do more) via midi ccs and switches. If nothing else it could be a backup for apps. B-3X is the one I solely use (so far) and it only works on ipad unfortunately. Obviously the big advantage being you could have velcro up or have a clamp for an iphone just about anywhere in your rig. 1 Quote

If the ipad craps out at a gig (it did one time due to heat and another time due to user error of forgetting to charge it or bring the charger!) I'd have a backup. Or maybe it'll get first call if it's easier and sounds good. Quote
ElmerJFudd Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 Would be nice to see a revisit of Key Performer on iPad. Which I guess was his first attempt at a Gemini in software. Key Performer can be described as “the Swiss Army knife of the modern gigging keyboardist”. It's a single software instrument which offers a wide variety of keyboard sounds that are always used in almost all musical genres where a keyboardist is involved. Just to summarize a few of its key features, it offers: Several classic keyboard sounds including pianos, electric pianos, synths, organs, etc. A sample playback section (aka “ROMpler”) with “adaptive playback” A physical modeling classic Electric Piano A physical modeling “Wurly” piano A phase modulation synthesizer for the famous DX Piano A Virtual Analog polyphonic synthesizer A Virtual Tonewheel Organ with rotary speaker effect Two effect slots with all the most famous effects An AMP simulation section with overdrive A global Reverb effect 64 Programs per bank, 9 snaphots for organ sections and 9 for VA synth Full MIDI implementation Easy MIDI Learn Huge efficiency with very low CPU power requirements Simplicity of use, Versatility, Stability, Expandibility, Authenticity! https://www.genuinesoundware.com/?a=showproduct&b=38 Quote Yamaha CP88, Casio PX-560
Baldwin Funster Posted October 20, 2022 Posted October 20, 2022 I put key performer on my iPad and suddenly it would boot up slow and other apps would glitch even with key performer not open. Maybe it was a big coincidence or maybe not but I deleted the app and everything worked again. Now I got $20 or whatever I spent invested in a ghost app. Oh well I got all kinds of free stuff. You win some you lose others... One thing about the GSI Rotary, there is no midi setting page. It is hard wired to the vb3 CCs. I opened up a channel in AUM and put VB3m on it and put the Rotary app in the fx node. Then I put vb3 in brake and set the fast/slow to CC100 to disable it. But I wasn't able to get the rotary app to switch. I tinkered about in the fx node with midi settings but no go. I'm sure I'm missing something but until i can put it on a "thing" and have it switch via a controller it has a limited use except as a standalone app. Quote FunMachine.
