analogika Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 The JX-8P is wonderful as it is. I have no desire to upgrade it. The JX-10/MKS-70, however: definitely Vecoven. dazzjazz Posted September 19, 2022 Posted September 19, 2022 I have a Kiwi-8P and it’s fabulous. Sounds a lot more like a VCO synth with the options to induce oscillator drift and randomness. I don’t need to rely on the chorus to thicken the sound as often. The mod matrix is fairly comprehensive and the addition of an arpeggiator is very welcome. The sequencer is seems tricky to use, but I haven’t really tried very hard either. here’s my mini review/demo done not long after I got it. I’m getting even deeper with it now. 3 Quote www.dazzjazz.com PhD in Jazz Organ Improvisation. BMus (Hons) Jazz Piano. my YouTube is Jazz Organ Bites 1961 A100.Leslie 45 & 122. MAG P-2 Organ. allan_evett Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 That Kiwi-8P upgrade is very cool. And when I checked out Kiwi I learned of the Kiwi-30 update. Makes me wish I'd never parted ways with my MKS-30/Planet S module. Though I've owned a lot of Roland gear - including an MKS-80/MPG-80 - the MKS-30 had a personality all its own. Guessing the Kiwi-30 upgrade amps that up quite a bit. Haven't found a Kiwi-30 demo online, yet... NosPup Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 i happen to be sitting next to an MKS-30 right now! It has some voice chip problems so I have been debating whether to buy replacement chips or not. It always had a great sound. I might need to get this running again so i can entertain the Kiwi option!!! Quote
Mr -G- Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 Hi dazzjazz, what happens when installing the KIWI-8P in relation to the patches of the original (not upgraded) model? I suppose that new patches now have more parameters to store. Can you still load old/original patches? Thanks. 1 Quote
dazzjazz Posted September 20, 2022 Posted September 20, 2022 Yes you can load old patches. Although they’re organised differently, the originals are in there and sound the same. 1 Quote www.dazzjazz.com PhD in Jazz Organ Improvisation.
