Julius D Majestic Studios
Have you guys ever seen a device that will record SYSEX messages, almost similar to midi learn on a computer? I'm working on something that keeps getting asked about controlling keyboard organs from external controllers.   Thanks. Quote YouTube - My YouTube Channel (please subscribe for music tech info) https://www.facebook.com/majesticstudiosllc Instagram - majesticstudios_jld Former Keyboard Tech - PRINCE Cassandra O'Neal KING (We Are King) Majestic Studios - Audio Recording & Mixing Engineer
Adam Burgess
Bound to be an iPad app.  Or, I’ve made a couple of simple pedal/controllers with an Arduino - they could be persuaded to spit out SysEx strings over USB or MIDI.  Did a few experiments a while ago and could write text to an Integra’s screen over SysEx. SysEx really is very powerful if implemented properly. Literally everything on the Integra is doable.
mate stubb
Not sure exactly what you are trying to do, but for diagnosing a midi stream and inspecting what is being sent, look into MidiOx. Quote Moe --- Â
PaulArtola
Have you seen the Midi Solutions Event Controller: http://midisolutions.com/prodevp.htm ?  Espen Kraft did a recent video, programming and using it to provide deeper control than Midi-CC allows.
DovJ
Another option, if you’re seeking to work with Sysex to control your gear:  Bome Midi Translator Pro  It not only captures Sysex, but you can also insert variables into the strings when you make use of the captured messages.  I use the companion Bome Box as a dedicated keyboard rig midi controller. For all intents and purposes, it eliminates the need for a computer to process midi.  The support is nothing short of outstanding. The people who back these tools up understand how keyboardists use the product, because they are doing the same things.  I can’t recommend this pair of products highly enough. 1 Quote An acoustically decent home studio full of hand-picked gear that I love to play and record with! funkyhammond
1 minute ago, Julius D Majestic Studios said: I'll check this out  I've used the MIDI Solutions products for many years, including for doing some sysex-to-CC mapping. What are you trying to do? You won't get a "learn" type function. You have to figure out what you want to do and program it using the software, just like in this video that PaulArtola referred to: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKJMeHwydUQ  If you just need a software tool, then maybe the Bome Translator software is a better bet since it might be able to "learn" the function. But if you need a hardware device, then either the Midi Solutions EPP or BomeBox should do the trick if you are willing to figure out how to program them. I've never used the Bome products but they have a good reputation. They are a bit different, though:  MIDI Solutions EPP:  - focused on 5-pin MIDI  - gets power from 5-pin MIDI of connected device (if other device doesn't provide MIDI power, need to add this: http://midisolutions.com/prodpwr.htm)  - comes with editor software to program it  BomeBox:  - more full-featured device with connections for 5-pin MIDI, USB MIDI, ethernet, and has WiFi  - gets power through phone-style micro-USB jack or ethernet  - the editor software has to be purchased separately to program it beyond its basic functions (which would be the case for sysex mappings)
mpn_user7629
I've read the Behringer BCR-2000 can be set up for midi learn.
