I'm watching The Matrix AGAIN

Great if you're into SCIFI...nonsense if you are not. Great music and eye candy. Great piece of work!

I just bought the 4 DVD BluRay today....all 4 movies.

I should make music for movies.

My mother always said my music sounded like movie soundtracks....Well that was her opinion.

This may not be something I should say in public, but here goes...

I had been gigging in Germany for a week to the usual thousands of Germans whacked out on ecstasy, and returning to the states because I was going to give a seminar on digital mixing in Las Vegas the next day. Just like in the days when I played acid rock without ever taking acid, I had never taken ecstasy. Well, a trusted friend said "if you ever wanted to take ecstasy, this is laboratory quality and mild." I thought well, I should at least take it once to find out the mindset of who I was playing to.

After landing in Las Vegas, I figured it would be fun to walk around the casinos and hotels on ecstasy, which in retrospect was pretty amazing. And then I thought, "wow, I bet it would be fun to just chill in a movie theater and look at a cool movie." So there was a theater playing some new movie called "The Matrix," which I'd heard was a sci-fi flick. I got my ticket, sat down, and...

Re-Watched the first 3 movies the past 3 days. Will watch "Matrix Resurrection" tonight.

As to SciFi being nonsense to some....that was how my Mother and Sister saw it. They just don't get it. It is a valid claim, however some life lessons can be learned from it. And sometimes, as I am now watching old episodes of "Sliders" the SciFi of the 80's can be very real TODAY.

But you either like it or you don't. I will be re-watching Fringe next.

So now you know a bit more of why I see things the way I do, and why I like electronic music so much....influence of scifi going back to the 60's, and my dad with his oscillators !

My main "Matrix" moment comes from "The Animatrix," wherein several creators of anime do side stories from the same world. The first one tells the tale. The soon-to-be Matrix AI reaches sentience and asks for a seat at the table. Man tells it to get bent, we're your creators, you're just machines. It doesn't take to that very well, hence the human battery pods. Once I saw that, all of the other pieces came together.

The overall story arc is mostly an eye-roller, but I didn't go to see any of the flicks expecting "Lawrence of Arabia." I went for the kaboom of it. 🤯🤘

I never saw any of the Animatrix stuff. My daughter watches some of that. I left Saturday morning cartoons when I became a teenager. However , I do realize, since then, that there are many "adult" cartoons. I'll ask my daughter about that episode. You may have whetted my appetite.

Oh, its not Saturday morning fare at all. Its more of a companion item to the live action. It might disturb younger kids if they sat through it. The very last story is animated to a startling degree. The story asks its questions, but the animation is like a Tibetan monk sand painting brought to life. Its an odd little gem worth a viewing.
