musicbysterling
I have a student who wants to learn a particular piano piece that we haven't had any luck finding online through any of the music download websites or Scribd. I've seen some advertisements for services where you provide an mp3 and they will transcribe it for you for a nominal fee. Does anyone know of any of these? Thx! MAJUSCULE
You might find someone on Fiverr? Or you could contact someone on YouTube who runs a transcription channel and see what their fee would be? I don't know of any dedicated transcription-for-hire services myself. What"s the tune and do you want it very accurate or leveled to his/her playing ability? There may be someone here willing to do this for you. Dr88s
I"ve had it done before. I made a few inquiries; by far prices were much more reasonable on Fiverr compared to other services with their own websites. I really wish I had the ear to do it myself, but some complicated passages came alive under my fingers with help from those who heard the intricacies better than I. musicbysterling
I checked out a couple of sites I found on Youtube. Thanks for all your suggestions! Docbop
Why not work with your student to transcribe it bit by bit as part of their lesson. Good for ear training, learning how to listen music more deeply, work on fingerings, and etc. They will learn a valuable skill.
TommyRude
Those are some great suggestions. Have you seen some of the great transcription work by our colleagues right here at Keyboard Corner? http://i253.photobucket.com/albums/hh58/escaperocks1/18816055_10155631092920695_1547680466_n_zpszee3cjvc.jpg Quote Some music I've recorded and played over the years with a few different bands Tommy Rude Soundcloud

RalphF
a couple of months ago, i asked a similar question and someone (i wish i could give credit but i forget who gave me this advice and i can't find the thread myself) suggested My Sheet Music Transcriptions. they do exactly what you want... you send them a mp3 file, they send you a PDF and midi file of the sheet music. I dont recall exactly what the turnaround time was but i do recall is was pretty quick. hope this helps.
