ziglu
Hi all I was just wondering if any knows would it be possible to use a keytar to trigger single fingered chords of a home keyboard?
AnotherScott
I think it would depend on how it is implemented on the home keyboard. For example, if the home keyboard allows an external keyboard to behave (over MIDI) identically to its own keyboard, then whatever works on its own keyboard should work over MIDI. ziglu
My home keyboard is a Yamaha SX900 and has midi in I would set it up to play ACMP. Keytar not purchased yet but was hoping to play the key of C on the keytar and hope the SX900 would then play the chord of C.....Likewise if I played the C key and black one to the left The SX900 would play Cm. Not sure if this would work unless the Keytar had ACMP as well but I have never seen one.
Baldwin Funster
The keytar is going to do the same as any other midi controller that sends CC note on messages. You might borrow one from somebody or get a used 25 key for $50 on Craigslist to try it. You might even be able to rig up a strap to the 25 key and wear it. Quote FunMachine. Rather, the SX900 needs the ability to have its ACMP functions triggered when when the board is being played via MIDI. In a quick look at the reference manual, it sounds like they may be talking about what you want on p. 125, "Chord DetectâSettings for Chords used in Style Playback via MIDI" Quote Maybe this is the best place for a shameless plug!
