Recently occurred to me what's going on in Amazed by Lonestar (a cheesy 90s country classic to be sure): they just move the 1-5-6-4 around to different key centres (other than the guitar lead bridge section). Cool little trick that gets some interesting modal borrowing/deceptive changes in there and provides nice movement, I find. Credit to the songwriters for that one. I recalled learning a song for a wedding gig that used that progression in three different keys. It was prolly around 2012. I could not, for the life of me, recall the title or the artist . It bugged the crap outta me for a long time. Now I know. And yes - I thought it was some clever songwriting. Quote Professional musician = great source of poverty.
