Tedster Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002
Originally posted by Dan South: Ooh, be careful, Tedster! "She was askin' for it" is NOT a valid defense. ;) Women have the right to make themselves look as beautiful and sexy and inviting as humanly possible and then get infuriated when you look at them (or FAIL to look at them, depending on what they want from you at that particular instant). Them's the breaks. :D
That's exactly it: Response 1: "OOOHHH...ALL THOSE GUYS DID WAS STARE AT MY CLEAVAGE ALL NIGHT...I'M SO MAD I CAN'T SEE STRAIGHT". Response 2: "OOOHHH...I GOT ALL DOLLED UP AND NO ONE EVEN NOTICED! I'M SO MAD I CAN'T SEE STRAIGHT". Stevie Wonder doesn't have these problems. "Cisco Kid, was a friend of mine"
THE MIX FIX Posted January 10, 2002 Posted January 10, 2002 Gee, does EVERYONE here have to generalize so much? Isn't it the INDIVIDUAL, and NOT their sex, race, religion, etc., that makes them who they are? :p I can talk to Lee like I would to a guy, because I KNOW She knows what's up, and so I can SILL act like the STUPID, sexually perverted, Male idiot that I actually am, in that same conversation, because I know She's cool, and gives it RIGHT back to me, and it's all in fun  (MOSTLY). And, DUH, aren't Men and Women SUPPOSED to have SOME kind of sexual feelings towards each other, even if they're feelings of repulsion!! :p ;) I know several Women Engineers who think like that, and it makes a situation, which could be potentially awkward and guarded, become relaxed and productive, when everything's brought out in the open, right away. It's like going to a Nude Beach. First time my ex-Girlfriend wanted me to go, I said "NO WAY!! I'll NEVER be able to, er, NOT 'show' my feelings".. ;) WRONG!! After 10 minutes, you FORGET you are naked, and get to enjoy the wonderful Martha's Vineyard Beaches, without being the LEAST bit self conscious or uptight about ANYTHING!! It's like in "Annie Hall", by Woody Allen. The 1st time he dates her, on the way to dinner, he asks for a kiss. She is taken back for a second, but he explains that for the entire night, they are going to be thinking about if they should kiss, and when they should, and all that, and be nervous and obsessed with it, and not be able to digest their food, or relax and have fun, or anything, if the kiss thing is constantly on their minds. So, she gets it, and they do a quick kiss, and then he says: "See, now that we've got it over with, we can stop worrying about it, and go and digest our food". Same deal. Get any 'delicate' subjects, words, whatever, out of the way FIRST, and there NOT gonna be a problem any longer. Some Women are cool like that; some are not. I'm lucky enough to know several VERY cool Females in this business, and we can work together, without censoring our thoughts, language, or feelings. Occasionally, there might be some physical stuff, but that's not the goal, nor the typical case. When two people working together can be themselves, and NOT have to worry about walking on eggs all the time, things go MUCH smoother. AND, they can be of the same, or of different, sexes, religions, races, or whatever combination of characteristics you can dream up. Who the fuck cares what sex or color someone else is, if you like each other, and can get along? Let's NOT go back to the 1950s when you ACTUALLY had to worry about that shit. I'd rather NOT know ANYTHING about someone I was about to meet and work with for the first time, except that they were good at what they did, and that we could get along, like each other, and totally be ourselves. If THAT doesn't happen, it's like working for Morgan Stanley, or some other shit-ass Multi-National Corporation, with dress codes, rules, and even that STUPID, FUCKED UP, term and Anti-First Amendment concept, of 'Netiquette', and I'll be outta there in a heartbeat!! THAT ain't fun!! BUT, if THAT'S where your head is at, then what the fuck are you doing in the MUSIC business, as a creative, sensitive, understanding 'ARTIST', anyway!! :p Instead, why not go help ex-Mayor, and Time magazine's 'Man of the Year' , Adolph Guliani, go and ban some more art from a museum, while kicking his Wife and kids out of their home (after all, She DID have the nerve to embarrass him by staring in "The Vagina Monologues".. HOW IMMORAL!!), so he'd be better able to bang his new bitch there, and still have time to kick the homeless from their 'beds', the private property of the steps for a Church (which gave them permission to remain there), JUST in time for winter, and his leaving office!! Let's use HIM as our TRUE example of being 'Moral', and a tolerant, nonsexist, non-racist, un-bigoted, non-judgemental, open-minded role model, shall we? NOT someone crude enough to ACTUALLY say 'Rack', or even (GULP), TITS!! :p [ 01-10-2002: Message edited by: THE MIX FIX ] Bob Buontempo. Nice generalization, Bob!
NO, that was actually 'EVERYONE HERE'. :p You misquoted me, or read it incorrectly. What's wrong? Is Exxon/Mobil (OR 'Insert the Monopoly YOU Work For Here') cutting out the 'required' "Efficient Reading Skills For Business Applications" courses for their employees, do to the 'necessity' of having to lay off 75,000 workers because of the 'economic slowdown', blamed on, er, I mean, caused by, the 'War on Terrorism', and requiring the Government to have to 'bail them out' with massive corporate tax cuts, allowing oil drilling off shore in the Gulf (Coast, NOT war; that was a DIFFERENT Bush :p ), and lowering the EPA standards, while the WTC victim's families (many of them Morgan Stanley employees) had the Government actuaries decide that the amount of any Government financial help they receive will be based on their dead relative's salaries, and NOT the worth of their loss of life, and, still, they must sign away their rights to recover anything more by Lawsuit to get even one dime of those relief funds!?! Did something like THAT happen to you to impare your reading skills? You can fill in the Corporation names, and any numbers, or laws being changed to be favorable to those companies, by looking at today's CNN reports. Those figures and names were just made up by me on the spot, but the story is still basically the same... Some people I know DID lose a LOT of friends from Morgan Stanley that day... :( YUP, it's SO COOL to work on Wall Street!! Personally, I'd be ashamed to do that. I DO feel JUST as sorry for the Cops, Firemen, waiters, and shoe shine boys that lost their lives on that day down there, as I do for the Morgan Stanley VIPs, though. Too bad the dead Fireman's family (maybe a Wife and 3 Kids) get a total of $250,000 for LIFE, but a CEO's family will get $30 Million. How much was that Fireman's life worth when he ran into the building to try and rescue the CEO? Yea, I LOVE Wall Street!! Hey Lee!! Want to get drunk, stoned, and wired, listen to, then play some MUSIC (NO SYNTHS!!), talk about Politics (radical, of course), and then FUCK ALL NIGHT? Or is THAT too sexist, and not 'Wall Street' enough, to be an exciting idea to most 'Girls'? [ 01-11-2002: Message edited by: THE MIX FIX ] Bob Buontempo. No disrespect to MIX FIX -- we know what he means in terms of his rant against inequality. In fact, widows with several children will receive government awards in the millions, and while awards will not be diminished due to money received from charity, life insurance will diminish the size of the award. Therefore, the widow of a well-insured CEO will receive a smaller amount in the government's settlement than a Fireman's widow w/ kids. However, and this is really what MIX FIX should be ranting about, there were not all that many CEOs killed in the WTC. After the bombing several years ago, most top management relocated to safer quarters, leaving their worker bees in the cross-hairs. While this thread is obviously veering off topic, perhaps there is a topical twist: aren't men supposed to be the more fact-oriented ones? -Peace, Love, and BrittanyLips

I believe I DID refer to that fact a FEW times in the post, with statements like: (and these are ONLY paraphrased examples, since I'm too lazy to go reread the post, and, Heaven forbid I misquote myself, leaving open an opportunity to be, once again, accused of NOT being "Fact-Oriented" :p ) 'Or YOUR company'; 'I made these numbers up'; 'Check the CNN Reports for today's figures'; or SOME shit like that. However, I wish no harm to anyone, and I would NOT be glad if the CEOs were injured or killed in that horrible tragedy. So, I'll acquiesce, and, in the future, separate the 'Cold, Hard, Facts', from the 'Impassioned, Heartfelt, Philosophy', when discussing any 'REAL' issues in Life (except the *TRULY IMPORTANT* things, like Sampling Rates and Pre- Amp Noise  ), just in case anyone plans a Lawsuit against me, because of ANY level of inaccuracy, (intended or not), in what I've tried to, admittedly, grossly overemphasize and express, instead of them POSSIBLY thinking a little, and, MAYBE, losing a BIT of their self-serving, "But, who cares; How does that affect ME?", attitude and apathy, towards...EVERYTHING!! (Except Pro Tools  ) If you want the 'TRUE TO THE PENNY' dollar amounts, and fund appropriation schemes, I guess you'd be better informed if you asked the FAMILIES of the people SUING the Federal Government about this issue. No, WAIT!! I take that back!! You'd better ask their Lawyers, because the families MAY be too busy grieving their loss(es), while simultaneously trying to make the rent, and put food on the table for their kids. (Oh yea, ONLY IF they have kids; or pay remt; or are even grieving. I'd better not make such a 'Blanket', or 'Over Generalized' statement, for the purposes of *FACTUAL ACCURACY*). Ask their LAWYERS, instead!! Not only will you get the *FACTS* (?) :p , but with 1/3 (Oops!! I Did it Again, Britney!!), SOME PORTION OF THE RECOVERY, IF ANY, TO BE DETERMINED, BY MUTUAL AGREEMENT, BETWEEN THE COMPLAINANT AND THEIR COUNSEL, INCLUDING ANY LEGAL, OR OTHER EXPENSES INCURRED BY COUNSEL, NOT RECOVERABLE BY THE OUTCOME OF THE COMPLAINT (like THAT one?), will go to THEM!!
