Flemtone
Pretty good, pretty neat... With the number of menus and toolbars I use in drafting and recording, I already have a two-monitor system, but it was expensive to set up (though I'll never go back!). This looks like a nice alternative, though. I'd DL it, but I'd also wait for screenshots to be available on the website before I'd install. Thanks for the link! Peace, -Tim from Jersey Play. Nawledge
Im gonna try it in a few, so far alot of folks have tried it and liked it, I wish they had screen shots up too though.
Dak Lander
Might be worth a try but is halving your current monitor going to be worth the dual usage? Nawledge
well what it actualy does is gives you a double desktop, and hot buttons to switch between, it doesn't put two monitors on your screen at the same time, I thought it did but I installed last night and it doesn't, it's pretty cool though for a free utitility and my system took no cpu hit, so you have different setups and switch between them on the fly. Flemtone
Actually, that might be a nice utility to have in the world of multiple toolbars/apps. Having the first monitor 'page' with the app in full-screen, then toggling to the other for toolbars, controls, etc. might be pretty nice. Thanks for the link! -Tim from Jersey Play. Just play. That would be worth a shot. I d/l'd it last night but haven't installed it yet. Will give 'er a go later this evening. There a couple of other pretty cool utilities on that site. Franknputer
One of my favorite things about Linux. (This has been a feature for years...) Seriously, it's a great way to keep multiple apps/windows organized. At work I would usually have one for email, one for web, one for in-house applications, and one for word processing stuff. Switching between desktops becomes second nature pretty fast.
Outrider
I'd try it but I, too, already run two monitors. Lemme tell ya...once you've done it with the twins, you'll never go back to just one! Seriously. I get a LOT more done with 2 monitors. This app sounds like it's almost as good. -M One of these days I'm gonna change my evil ways... one of these days... http://www.emotipad.com/emoticons/Band.gifhttp://www.weidenbach.net/images/storage/headbang.gif

phaeton
One of my favorite things about Linux. (This has been a feature for years...) make that decades if you count that it was inherited from the old UNIX systems of yore.... i dunno about this though... anything these days for windows that's FREE! FREE! FREE! has GOT to have some embedded bullshit that will do nefarious things behind your back. Dr. Seuss: The Original White Rapper . WWND? One 17" CRT for my Giga / softsynth machine, two 17" CRT's for my Pro Tools machine, and an active splitter sends an identical signal from the PT machine's monitor 1 out jack over to a 15" flatscreen. I wouldn't want to go back to single monitors again. I certainly will consider getting a second splitter and flatscreen so that I'd have two dual monitor setups at different locations in the room - all connected to a single computer. Four monitors - two identical dual monitor setups. Clients seem to like it because they can see what I'm working on when I'm doing stuff in the DAW. fantasticsound
Just downloaded Double Desktop and I'm already in love! I can't wait to try it on the Win2000 machine I use with Office. (This one is a Win98 machine.) I typically need to use information from Excel and Access at the same time. This promises to be a much quicker flip-flop than using the tray. Cool! Thanks, Nawledge! It's easiest to find me on Facebook. Neil Bergman Soundclick fntstcsnd
