flyscots
This is going to be a great tournament from here on in! I can't wait for the Quarter Finals. I'm really glad Spain, Italy & Germany didn't get through. The 3 big name negative teams go out early, wonderful. All the teams in the quarter finals deserve to be there because they tried to win games and score goals. Spain, Italy & Germany are out because they didn't try hard enough. Spain, for example, were happy with 1-0 against Russia and 0-0 against Portugal, serves them right! It's a real shame Denmark have to meet the Czechs now, both deserve to go further. Also, France vs Czech would be a fantastic final, but it's not gonna happen, maybe it will be a brilliant Semi instead.

flyscots
Anyone brave enough to predict the future? I'm hoping for high scoring games in the Quarters. I was gonna try and predict the scores but that's too hard! I'll just try and pick the winners: England, possibly after extra time. France, won't be as easy as they think. Sweden, I'm really not sure, too close to call Czech Rep, should be a thriller.

flyscots
Yeah how's that for a contradiction!? The English were moaning abot the Croatians saying they were gonna go after Rooney but when talking about how to stop Cristiano Ronaldo they say Ashley Cole needs to give him a good kick to slow him down! We have an interseting race for top scorer now. Van Nistelrooy - 4 Rooney & Zidane - 4/3* Tomasson, Larsson & Baros - 3 * I work in a pub, one of the locals is a bookie. Apparently Rooney's 2nd goal against Switzerland is under Pools Panel review and may be officially classed as an own goal. However, if Rooney gets the goal then Igor Tudor's own goal against France may be credited to Zidane, who's freekick was deflected in by the defender. I suppose it depends on how much money bookmakers stand to lose! Even top scorer is impossible to call. If Sweden get through you'd have to say Larsson but if Holland win it'd be Van Nistelrooy. You cant see England winning without Rooney scoring, same goes for Denmark with Tomasson. If the Czechs progress I'm sure Baros will keep on scoring. Anyone got any money on this? Rog
This referee is fucking shocking. Collina should red card him and ref this match himself. "That's what the internet is for. Slandering others anonymously." - Banky Edwards.

UEFA have already given it to Rooney, they said it would've gone in anyway. How would it have possibly gone in? It had hit the post and was going away from goal. No way it would have gone in! Personally though I would give the goal to Rooney, just like I'd give that one to Zidane. Shame Rooney's injured. No really, it's unfortunate for him. This referee is fucking shocking. Agreed. At the very least we need consistency from referees. That's not happening this time. FIFA & UEFA should fund cloning so Collina could ref every match! Shars
FUCKING PISS ARSED AND VERY ANGRY!!! WE WERE ROBBED! That Swiss ref was playing for Portugal as a 12th player and if anyone wants to dispute that well, they need to be tested! We were robbed and i am so upset as we won that fair and square. Gord -B
What a way to go! What do refs have against Sol scoring godammit!! Derek Smalls: It's like fire and ice, basically. Mats Olsson.
I'm really sorry for UK's loss. Your team played like champs and the whole game was very good, Portugal also played well. I have to agree though that the referee wasn't exactly immune from the home teams massive crowd support. And when Beckham missed his penalty and kicked the ball all the way to row 28, I freaked out. Embarrasing. http://www.lexam.net/peter/carnut/man.gif What do we want? Procrastination! When do we want it? Later!
Shars
Well, i'm not sure if anyone saw what happened when Vassel missed his shot but the camera panned to the right towards the lines man and low and behold, he suddenly had a smile on his face as did the ref! That match was a set up and as i said before, we won that fair and square in the 90 mins. I was wondering Mats, is there any way that decsion by the ref be overturned by UEFA if they see the video shots of the game? I tell you what, that was a fixed game and that ref eeds to be dealt with. How the hell can he justify ever fowl was from England and how the hell was Rooneys boot coming of a yellow card offence? I'm sorry, i may sound sour about this this morning but most of us Brits are feeling robbed today and theres noway we lst that game. www.myspace.com/yacababy
Mats Olsson.
I really don't know what UEFA can do. If there was any justice, they would look into it. ---------------------------- Today: France v Greece I expect France to win, 2-1. After Englands unfortunate loss, is there anyone that doesn't believe Czech Republic will play in the final? http://www.lexam.net/peter/carnut/man.gif What do we want? Procrastination! flyscots
LOL Mats! I wonder if I can attempt to interject calmly or if everyone is still mad. Yes that goal should have stood and yes the ref had a shocker, BUT the goal is disallowed at least 90% of the times a player jumps so close to the goalie. I bet most refs would have disallowed it, even unbiased ones! The rule is horrible. In my opinion it should be a goal but how many times have you seen these gaols disallowed? Most of the time I think you'll find. I'm glad to see no-one here is complaining about the penalty spot. Yes that was shocking too but I couldn't believe the commentators' moaning, Portugal were using the same penalty spot for god's sake! Now I'm really gonna be hated! England DID NOT deserve to win that match! Has Sven already forgetten what happened against France? Since when have England used Italy's negative tactics? Look where it got them! I hate it when teams sit back on a one goal lead and it serves them right when they lose. Portugal were all over England in the second half, they deserved to go through. Oh by the way, did anyone see a replay of the Portugal chance that was cleared off the line just before Rui Costa's goal? Obviously the ref didn't think it was in but if he really was playing for Portugal he would have given it. I would like to see a reply so I can judge for myself but of course there was no mention of it because of Rui Costa's wonder strike. Wayne Rooney's booking!? What was that all about? Maybe dissent? No UEFA wont change anything about the game but I'm sure they'll have words with Meier, you might not see him again this tournament. Man of the match - Ashley Cole. What a game he had! Has to be the best defensive display of the tournament. Y'know I bet he was joking when he said he was gonna kick Ronaldo and was subsequently misquoted. He did nothing wrong all game and stopped the most dangerous player from having an impact - he also did it fairly. Conclusion: shocking ref but Portugal deserved to win anyway. They'll get beaten in the semis though. Prediction for tonight: France 3 - 1 Greece. Henry has woken up, he could get two tonight.
Mats Olsson.
Greece 1 - France 0 Sensational outcome! The Greeks played with their heart, great game and very surprising victory for Greece. flyscots
Spain, Italy, Germany, England and now FRANCE!?!? With the exception of Holland all of Europe's big teams are out! Y'know what that means Mats, Sweden to win tonight! Are all the big countries faultering or is this just another sign of the power shift in world football? It seems like while the big countries stutter everyone else is improving making it a more level playing field. Just look at the USA and Korea in the last World Cup. Also look at the vastly improved African Nations. Only two things stay constant - Scotland are still crap and England still can't win a penalty shoot-out!
