Courtney faces a felony

Recommended Posts

Well its been said that the foolish will eventually become wise. All roads lead to enlightenment. This life isn't all there is and it looks like she has a few lessons to learn.

If it were me though I would've stashed a mil or two in a moneybelt(s) somewhere. Even George Harrison was swindled out of millions by his money manager.

Its only money which is only symbolic of wealth, and there's more to be made. She has royalties comming her way. She could always do another film if she can get it together and tour.

You shouldn't chase after the past or pin your hopes on the future.

I agree that if she was ripped off that she should get her money back. Considering her track record of getting wasted and violent (remember the plane incident?) I wouldn't be surprised if she did invoke this. Then again, I wasn't there so I don't know first hand.

She also recently threw a mic stand with the base attached into an audience hitting and injuring someone in the process. There is a huge wave of crimes that she's commited recently and I guess I'm just tired of hearing about it. She's a good artist and I hope she can get her act together. Otherwise, she might loose custody of her daughter, end up in jail, or even worse, end up killing herself from OD-ing.

I think that's a bogus charge. Her concerts are known to be wild. The fans want it that way. They want wild, they want crazy, they don't want lame. If she was putting off a quiet acoustic show, they may not even go to it. Even here in Cleveland a few years back, she got out into the crowd and the fans ripped off all her clothes, hardly a bunch of little angels. I doubt very much she intentially tried to hurt somebody with a mic stand. Too bad somebody got hurt, but if everybody who got hurt in a mosh pit, filed charges.....the courts would be full. You have to expect a lot of pushing and shoving if you're that close to the stage at one of her concerts. It's all part of the show. If you want safe, go to a church concert, and watch a choir.

I'll tell ya another thing about being a celebrity, when the public thinks you're rich, people come out of the woodwork, trying to get a piece. Buy this, buy that, "What ?? No $100 tip ??", or...

"Oh my God, you did something wrong, quick, let's call a lawyer, and milk it for all it's worth", or....

"Let me park your car for you, that'll be $50 please."

That Rolling Stone article about her actually made me feel sympathetic towards her, and that's just not easy to do since I think she's a giant asshole. I had the displeasure of meeting her when she was still up-and-coming with Hole a long time ago, and she was loud, never shut up, and was a real asshole. But also oddly charismatic. Back then, she was interesting in the same way that driving past the scene of an accident is...

Judge: How do you find the defendant?

Jury: She's guilty of mayhem, exposure indecent.

Freaked out behaviour both chronic and recent.

Drinking and driving, narcotic possession.

And that's just page one of her ten page confession!

Judge: I should put you away where you can't kill or maim us,

But this is LA and you're rich and famous!

Courtney: I'm checking in.

All: She's checking in.

Courtney: I'm checking in,

All: Checking Checking In,

Courtney: No more pills or alcohol,

No more pot or Demorol,

No more stinking fun at all,

I'm checking in.

All: She's checking in, She's checking in.

Doctor: No more looking pale and thin,

No more bugs beneath your skin.

Courtney: Hey, that's just my aspirin.

All: Check it out, you're checking in!

I'm not interested in Courtney Love one way or the other, but as a general subject, isn't 'swindling' illegal?

It seems that the federal government feel the need to enforce things like copyright infringement, wouldn't you think this kind of thing might be considered a bit more serious?

Everybody wants a piece. Even the government. Look at the FCC deal with Stern, Gives us $1.75 million and all is forgiven.

Have you checked out how much "Re-hab" costs now days ?? Even speeding and parking tickets have become a multi-million dollar industry.

Here's where it all really comes down...

A person who's a fuck-up is the best person to swindle. Why?

Simple. Because when you've got a legitimate beef, no one believes you. Since Courtney's lived her life with little regard to doing anything other than what her immature mind feels like at the moment (be it using drugs or throwing mic stands at peoples' heads), it would be hard to tell the difference between her having actually been ripped off versus her having spent money on drugs, invested poorly and so on.

Any lawyer looking to take her case to go after those who allegedly swindled her would have to figure that an opposing lawyer has several tons of ammunition pre-loaded that would undermine her character and make her a completely unbelievable witness to her own cause.

Sadly, when Courtney is mentally sound (rarely), she's actually pretty intelligent and eloquent. Perhaps she's one of those people that will indeed turn her life around and be productive and happy. I have a million-to-one odds that this won't happen, but its a nice thought regardless.
