GT40sc
Major studio upgrade in the next month or so... New G4, etc. Do we swing for the fence and get the Apple Cinema Display? "Artistic" studio partner has the money, wants the monitor... But "Engineer Bill" is feeling practical and doubtful. Do we really need it that bad? Pros? Cons? "Give it to me straight, Doctor. I can take it." Thanks, SC SC "If the machine produces tranquillity, it's right." ---Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance
bombastique
It's WAY cool - big, nice colors, easy on the eyes! BUT - I would say you would be better off with 2 cheaper 19" LCD monitors - mainly because of the real estate. It's lovely having 2 monitors - 1 can hold your 'palette' or notes or tools or whatever you want and the other all your tracks. I have 2 that I run with Logic and I can have 2 different screensets opened simultaneously - no need to flip back and forth. Still - the Apple one is quite impressive... Botch.
I've compared the Cinema displays with several other LCD displays at the local CompUSA and the Cinema was the sharpest to my eyes. However, I just got the new MacWorld mag yesterday and they did a rather comprehensive shootout of LCD and CRT displays, the Cinema did NOT come out on top, rather a Formac display that's a bit cheaper. That shootout is pretty timely for you, might want to check it out!
