Joe Muscara
The other night we're watching The Voice and they often use shells or one of those grand piano style DPs from Roland. But this time, the set and the performers are in white, and Paul Mirkovich is playing a DP, which you can see in the shell, because it's clear! I'm watching and thinking, isn't the point of the shell to make people think you're playing a real piano? [video:youtube]https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kV67B04tI8g Yet, as I watched the performance, I was struck by the fact that even though I could see that it wasn't close to a real grand, it kinda worked. Isn't the mind a weird thing? Quote "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! Dockeys
Looks like the Roland V piano or a Nord Grand?? Yeah the clear shell is kinda weird but works...somehow though it looks like they painted/covered the digital piano in a lighter shade/material to stick out less. Quote Yamaha MODX8, Legend Live. Lou Gehrig Charles
I think the guitar should be clear too. Keep the theme going!
Ken Beaumont
I played a solid acrylic electric guitar, it sounded like crap. Legatoboy
Postmodernism can do strange things to people.....and people things! Some day they will find a way to make the performers appear translucent too, and we will be able to actually see the adrenaline flowing.. and dinner! Joe Muscara
Looks like the Roland V piano or a Nord Grand?? Likely a Roland. Paul is a Roland artist and often plays a V Piano on the show. I think the guitar should be clear too. Keep the theme going! Good point! Quote "I'm so crazy, I don't know this is impossible! ChiefDanG
Seeing clear drums brought back a memory - one of my first bands was with my brother and he had a clear drum set. Ludwig Vista-Lite ? newkeys
I'm watching and thinking, isn't the point of the shell to make people think you're playing a real piano? I"d be curious to know how many people under 40 are aware that some pianos have hammers and strings in them.
PianoMan51
I get that we"re always looking for trends in our 'space". But I see this as a desperate attempt to keep the audience from actually listening to her awful performance. Wait, not awful if it"s a gig at the local VFW. But awful when compared to the original. Ken Beaumont
My brother in law has a clear ludwig drum set from the 70's. He polishes them to keep them clear. He is a very good drummer, I think those drums were his first professional set. I think its kind of like keeping and maintaining your first car, nostalgia.
