Steve Nathan
One day sale $29 Anyone know it? Does it require original EZkeys software to run it or will it stand on it's own. Demos sound interesting enough for $29. I own several others, but often they are too ambient or too small or too "just not right". I'll buy it, but don't want to spend a nickle only to discover that it needs another $300 "host". Quote Don't rush me. roygBiv
Hi Steve I have it, and I'm ~ 99% sure it will run in either standalone mode, or as a VST (I use Reaper). No other program needed. I'll check when I get home later today. I think it s totally worth $29. I don't really have any other good piano VST to compare it with (all my money has gone into iOS apps). It's kind of a one-trick pony, but so is an old upright. Sounds great for the material I do (rock and roll and roots/reggae/ska music). Has that charming semi-out of tune sound in the upper and lower registers. Not sure how well it would work for jazz or classical.

Steve Nathan
Bought it. Works stand alone and as an AU in Dp. Totally worth $29! Quote Don't rush me. roygBiv
Hey - Glad it worked (that is what I remembered, but that's not always saying much...) I agree - it is totally worth $29. Plus, if I recall correctly, it comes with various MIDI snippets/styles that you can learn/steal riffs off (not that you need to Steve, but for a hack like me, very useful). Regarding my less-than-ringing sounding endorsement of semi-out-of tune sound, what I mean is that cool sound you can only get out of an older upright. Check out the sound examples of the Saloon, Southern Comfort and 70s Ballad Presets down near the middle of the page to see what I mean: https://www.toontrack.com/product/ezkeys-upright-piano/
Mark Schmieder
It runs standalone or as an AU or VST, and is worth the $29, as are all the EZKeys libraries. Better than one would except from a company known for specializing in drums. If EZKeys Dream Machine shows up during their holiday say these next few days, grab it: it's an enhanced Rhodes Mark VII, which almost no one ever samples. It is layered with a Celesta but can be used by itself as well. pjd
Thanks for posting the tip! I saw it late last night and bought EZKeys Upright. Totally worth the $29. I've been meaning to try EZKeys for a while and came within a nanometer of ordering the String Machine when it was on sale over Thanksgiving. The Upright is a much better dip in the water. -- pj
Stokely
Considered it, but I have Addictive Keys upright already and would like to get Komplete next year (which includes an upright I think). Waiting and saving is no fun at all! Darn Kontakt, there are many cool instruments out there that require it...
Dnsmo
Thanks for posting the tip! I saw it late last night and bought EZKeys Upright. Totally worth the $29.This. I'm always on the lookout for great vintage upright sounds, and EZKeys Upright fits the bill very nicely, so I also grabbed it up at a great price. Thanks for bringing this to our attention, Steve! Hobo
I bought my second license last night- I need it on more than two computers so this is great for me. Use it exclusively as my only piano as its got that great 70s sound and cuts fantastically both recorded and on stage. Its charming and not too perfect but also not honky tonk. To my ears at least... Steve Nathan
Considered it, but I have Addictive Keys upright already Yeah I have Addictive Keys Uprights and Braunschwieger and a couple more, but I think this one will be more flexible in the studio, and allow me to get to a song appropriate sound more quickly.
