Lee Tyler
If you DO partake in mind-altering substances, I strongly encourage you to partake prior to this trip. Go to this apparently Checkoslavakian site and help the little guy save his home. This stuff has some kewl jazz music, kewl animations, stereo sound, and just plain cute-as-shit characters. Let me know if you dug this as much as I did, guys. DON'T FORGET TO MAXIMIZE YOUR VIEWING WINDOW! Enjoy!! ---Lee Help the little guy save his home! Click here and HELP!!! Lee Tyler
Found some well defining color-commentary about this thing on a blog: Absolutely enthralling, super creative, fun for logic lovers, very unique|woodsy|mossy|metallic|rustic|spacey|. Where did they get those mossy tree bark close-up images? It's a mysteriously intriguing piece! Floaty atmospheric music was quite fitting too. I loved the scene with the record player inside the tree! Wish I could go straight to the scene without completing all the others first. Lee Tyler
More stuff from another BLOG actually interviewing the 24 year old artist, Mr. Dvorsky: http://www.lazystuff.com/news/samorost.jpg Posted: Jul 8, 2003 10:38:12 · Edited by: lazystuff Quote [ Features ] Here's something novel... it's called Samorost and it's really hard to explain. A little man is travelling in a kind of wooden world. He spots another wooden world coming towards him, so jumps in a spaceship to pay them a visit. Once there, you have to take the little man through this weird and wonderful journey, working out where to click to make things happen. We were so impressed - we got in touch with Czech Republic creator, Jakub Dvorsky. He's a 24 year old freelance designer, animator and illustrator. What was your inspiration for Samorost? "Local nature and some magic mushrooms" he jokes. "I found the trees and metal shapes in the woods and dumps near my house." How long did it take to complete the flash and write the original storyboard? "It took one year, but I was making a lot of other things at the same time (mainly commercial jobs). It went online on 15th June this year, but I still don't know how popular it's been" Anymore ventures planned? "sure" he says not wanting to give too much away. Here's a talent worth keeping an eye on... Click the pic to view his work. You'll need flash and a fairly fast computer. http://www.lazystuff.com/news/samorost.jpg Joe Pine (60's talk show host who sported a wooden leg) to Frank Zappa -- "So, with your long hair, I guess that makes you a woman." Rim
That was pretty cool. The graphics were really nice. Lee, if you like that, you may want to try the computer game caled "Myst". It's similar in that you solve puzzles to continue your adventure. It's an old game so you should be able to pick it up real cheap. There's been some sequels, like "Riven" and "Myst II". The newest one is Myst III: http://www.myst3.com/html/flashintro.html aka riffing Double Post music: Strip Down http://rimspeed.com http://loadedtheband.com
