I-missRichardTee
Burt Reynolds Aged 82 .. Passed away today, in a Fla hospital of cardiac arrest. I thought he was a funny charismatic actor. bennyray
Yea I saw that on TV earlier today and the movie Smoky and the Bandit was pretty hilarious back in the day and The Longest Yard as well.
SteveCoscia
Long career, interesting guy. RIP Burt. Two months ago, I watched his latest film, The Last Movie Star. It started slow, but the story built to a nice crescendo and a warm message. Might be Burt's way to make an exit. Steve Coscia

Mark Schmieder
I may be the only person on the forum (if not in America) who has never seen a Burt Reynolds film. Of course I know who he was though. Older than I thought. Disclaimer: My family upbringing could hardly have been more conservative, unless I had been home-schooled. We didn't go to movies (except Disney). Zalman Stern
He made some of the best movies, like Boogie Nights, and some of the worst, like Heat. Definitely an iconic actor of his time.
Six-string-man
It always seemed to me like he was never quite taking himself quite seriously, he seemed to play it like "wheeee, look at me, I'm an actor! Who would have believed it?" Great attitude in this era of ego-driven "stars". Occasionally, do something nice for a total stranger. They'll wonder what the hell is going on! Marzzz
He had a great sense of humor, and didn't take himself seriously. From the famous "French Mistake fight scene" in Blazing Saddles, that's Burt and James Caan (the two most macho actors in Hollywood circa 1974) doing the little synchronized swimming bit at 2:18- [video:youtube]
The Real MC
He had a great sense of humor, and didn't take himself seriously. From the famous "French Mistake fight scene" in Blazing Saddles, that's Burt and James Caan (the two most macho actors in Hollywood circa 1974) doing the little synchronized swimming bit at 2:18- [video:youtube] I watched that movie so often and had never noticed they were Reynolds and Caan. There is only a fleeting glance of their faces but that is definitely Burt and James. Had to pause the video to actually confirm it. Bandit was a good movie but my favorite was Cannonball Run especially the outtakes at the end.

Shamanczarek
Burt appeared on an episode of The Twilight Zone where he plays a Brando-like character and gets punched out by William Shakespeare. Synthaholic
He made some of the best movies, like Boogie Nights, and some of the worst, like Heat. Definitely an iconic actor of his time. Ha! I came into this thread to praise Heat as my favorite Burt movie. Its not a great flick. But its great Burt. Roger Elbert was correct, saying it had all kinds of potential, but each story path hit a dead end. Ill have to tell my Burt & Loni story when it isnt 2:30am. The fact there's a Highway To Hell and only a Stairway To Heaven says a lot about anticipated traffic numbers People only say "It's a free country" when they're doing something shitty-Demetri Martin
Joe Muscara
CMT was running a documentary called The Bandit about Smokey and the Bandit last night. I haven't watched all of it yet, but what I saw so far talked a bit about Hal Needham maybe as much as Burt. Still, what little I saw talked more about Burt than I already knew. I thought Bandit, both 1 and 2, were hilarious esp with comedic actor Jackie Gleason , but Cannonball seemed like a joke of a movie.. I never really got it.
