hawkman
What's the word on EMU's APS (and bundled Soundfonts)? I'm just getting back into recording after years off (I'm Master Tracks Pro vintage), have an APS installed on my computer and am thinking about buying Sonar for its looping capabilities. Will these work together (use APS hardware inputs and sound card? use APS bundled software mixers, effects, etc?),are they redundant, will it be difficult to integrate them, or should I just dump the APS. Are Soundfonts well supported these days? Is the sound quality up to current standards? Any advice would be appreciated. AlChuck
There are better recording interfaces than the APS -- it's really just a SB Live with better converters and some extra capabilities, namely ASIO drivers, though that won't help if you use SONAR. But Sound Fonts are widely available, it's capable of very nice quality, and it should work perfectly well under SONAR. I'd say go ahead and use it to get back into the swim of things, and then later if you want to get a better recording device, you'll be able to reseaerch the field and make a measured choice while you can continue to record and create away happily...
