I read Fred Pohl's book "Chernobyl" - I believe the 'Ghost Town' is Pripyat. If you haven't seen this site, I highly recommend it - and definitely read the book.

I think it was a different article about Chernobyl that was posted before, about an old couple who refused to leave their home there and were still living there.

 

Thanks for posting this one Nawledge... absolutely riveting. I forwarded it on to my dad, whose parents came from that area. And indeed I would love to meet the author - what a character!
