Iconica Sections & Players is the only orchestral library recorded entirely at the legendary Funkhaus Berlin, renowned for its recordings of movie soundtracks, TV series, and major classical works. Produced in collaboration with specialist company Orchestral Tools, the samples were recorded by 76 musicians including 50 players just for the strings in Studio 2, a 400m2 room with a pleasing reverb time of around 1.5 seconds. Recorded over the course of a month, the acoustic separation of Funkhaus Berlins studios guarantees crystal-clear samples which capture the sounds of the orchestra in perfect, intimate detail».

I almost posted this here yesterday but wasn't sure it would be of interest to the forum. Also, I wanted to track down more pertinent information first, and have now done so.

For those who are curious, these are brand new recordings, not a repackaging or slimmed-down version of the Berlin Series from Orchestral Tools' Kontakt version to a HALion version.

So far, I have only listened to the woodwinds, and I am VERY impressed, which is saying a lot as woodwinds are my specialty and thus I am super-picky in that category.

Up until now, VSL has remained the ONLY woodwinds I like for classical, with Chris Hein (and Sample Modeling/Audio Modeling) in some jazz/pop contexts.

My primary instrument is the clarinet, and this is the first time I've heard a believable clarinet library (and I own most of them, for late night mock-ups before I finalize my parts).

Seriously thinking of buying this, but need to first compare vs. the Berlin Series (different recording chamber, but these are my two favourites and I use them a lot as convolutions inside Vienna's MIR plug-in).
