anyone who had news and broke it here before any official announcement would be violating a NDA, so don't expect anything before this weekend. Anyway, new keyboard products at summer NAMM just doesn't happen. It's a guitar show.

edit: it was late and I was generalizing

Yes, it's primarily a guitar show, but new keyboards do turn up. You'll have to trust me on that.

However, it's not unusual that official leaks frequently happen a few days before the show.

Casio released the PX-560 and CGP-700 at summer NAMM a few years ago.

you are correct, Steve. Of course there are always exceptions. It was late and I was generalizing. Mike Martin will be there so maybe lightning will strike twice. ;)

There's rumors of a polyphonic Moog called the Moog One. We'll see.

I've seen talk about this on various forums. The price for an 8-voice poly is not a shock to me, but other features look kind of silly (in an amusing way), like built-in Eventide reverb

Since I just purchased an RD-2000 chances are good Roland will announce an RD-2001... That's my typical luck :)

Make that an RD 2007 i with the full soundset of the integra 7, 4 slots for acb/dcb instruments with added aftertouch... and i am sold.

But i dont expect anything from summer namm, its starting today and all is quite..

Also the prementioned Moog one, so short after moogfest, is really unlikely.

However, this week Arturia showed some nice things..

Like the keylab mk2.

Wonder if Studiologic will be present with more info/videos/demos of the Compact 2x, even with the release date postponed, would be a compensation to those interested on the instrument...

My drawbars go to eleven.

Gear: Roland VR-09, Nord Electro 2 61, Korg CX-3. Hear my music: facebook.com/smokestoneband

You're sticking a stake in my heart !!! :)

Seriously though, over the last 4 decades of buying "stuff" I seem to have a knack for buying the 1.0 version just before the new and improved 2.0 version is released.... Call it bad luck :(

To be fair the new Yamaha digital piano sounds like it might be quite good.

Oh, ho, ho! Almost twice as many (40 vs. 24) high-quality "main" voices as its predecessor, the P-255, plus 480 XG voices! It's like a convergence of the P line with the DGX line, but better, given that the DGX line is only XGlite compatible. :)

So far, the only keyboard related announcement I've seen from the show is a new P series Yamaha piano. Good. They don't have enough pianos in their lineup.

The P515 is a mobile version of the CLp 645, with as a bonus the (🎼high quallity) XG soundset and the smart pianist app.... which makes it a perfect choice for any kid wanting to start playing the piano...

I dont know if this was at NAMM but this is new:

A 76 key with a great keybed would be useful. But I sound like a broken record.

The fact there's a Highway To Hell and only a Stairway To Heaven says a lot about anticipated traffic numbers

The faders are on the left hand side, so that's a plus as far as I'm concerned. I'm hoping for an 88-note weighted version, myself.

Best,

According to Zynaptiq CEO Denis Gökdag, "Intensity is the closest thing to an 'Awesome-Knob' weve come up with so far." It is said to boost "detail, clarity, density and loudness" using artificial intelligence and facial recognition technology.

Here's a NAMM demo that doesn't do Intensity justice, IMHO:

Here are some reviews that give a better idea of the results that can be achieved:

Intensity is available at an introductory price of $149 through July 31st, 2018. Afterward, it will be priced at $379.

When the Numa Compact 2x finally arrives it will become a target for companies like this. I could see Arturia also competing very strongly in the under-$700 market, pairing a great keybed, great controller functions, and a basic menu of sounds that you are happy to use.

I happened to be in Nashville staying in a hotel across the street, and I stumbled on the show. I went Saturday to the public day.

It really was a guitar and guitar effects show, and perhaps a drum show. There was very little in terms of keyboards. If there was any real keyboard activity, it must have been happening in private showings and events.

Sundown

Finished: Gateway,  The Jupiter Bluff,  Condensation

Working on: Driven Away, Eighties Crime Thriller

Main axes: Kawai MP11 and Kurz PC361

DAW Platform: Cubase

You are extremely optimistic in thinking the 2X is ever going to arrive.

While the instrument specs sound great, the number of presets you can save might be a huge dissapointment to many..

I think there's no news because manufacturers are now paying lawyers instead of Namm...

i noticed that some co's prefer to have lawyers run their business. Results are predictable.

Why fit in, when you were born to stand out ?

Well I'd expect music business and (micro) elevyronics executives to not necessarily want to perform some sort of affirmative action on behalf of their lawyers.

T

thats funny

My pet peeve is how tightly, co's grip their NDA's. Lots of fear going on.

I think confidence and competence should be emphasized.
