I came home with a case of the Blues. No big deal, For Blues/Jazz cats, the Blues is a good thing to have.

I decided to get into it by goin' "down home". I entered the search criteria "West Texas Blues into the Search function on YouTube. Up they came. I was into the old stuff from the 20's and 30's. I listened to the great Lonnie Johnson and to Texas Alexander, also to Blind Willie McTell (don't know if Willie was from Texas, but man, he played the sound.

I'm thinkin' I'm gonna" play acoustic tonight. Man, I can feel it in my blood and in my soul (I think that's where it's supposed to be).

Here's Lonnie Johnson playing "Blues in G".

And here he is playing "Woke up With The Blues In My Fingers".

If you play cool, you are cool.

Still can't view the clips yet, but heard those guys' stuff for years. Great stuff indeed.

And I've often mentioned a favorite of mine from back then is JOSH WHITE( and STILL too, can't access YT to copy and post clips, so Y'all gotta do the searching. Sorry----)

Been a blues lover for 'bout 60+ years now, and you're right about the "in my blood and in my soul" thing. For sure. ;)

I started out with NOTHING...and I still have most of it left!

Found an actual video of Johnson on electric guitar.

BTW: I don't think I've ever mentioned this before. My ex-wife (let's all say it together now - "That Bitch") used to call me "Blind Boy Fred".

If you play cool, you are cool.

Heh....

That sounds nicer than anything MY ex was known to call ME at times, ;) so...

What was behind that moniker Fred? Honest appreciation for your blues"chops", or typical "ex-wifey" sarcasm?

No she liked the way I played. At the time, I was playing acoustic Blues almost exclusively along with some South Side Chicago style.

She wasn't mean spirited. She was the laziest human being I've ever met.

Came home with the blues?

no no no!

It's not the blues if you didn't wake up that morning and the blues was comin' down like hail.

get it right, duder! :rimshot:

Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.

Or if you woke up that mornin', and your woman was just comin' home. ;)

Or, if you're doing well financially( and apologies to MARTIN MULL)....

If you woke up that mornin' and noticed both cars were gone!

Or, if you live in a shotgun shack with a woman named Fat River Dumpling, who flosses with rope, and gives you gasoline when you ask for water.

Always remember that you are unique. Just like everyone else.
