LeesKeys
I would be interested in hearing from players who are familiar with both of these keyboards. Which one do you think has the most realistic touch/response for playing jazz or classical pieces?
EscapeRocks
I assume you will be controlling VSTs of some sort? Personally I like both keyboards and I can play classical on both with no issues. Given that, I use a PX5S since it gives me the benefit of built in sounds that are easily modified, as well as good controller capability, with the exception of an expression pedal input. I easily overcome that by plugging the expression pedal into my top board, since Mainstage doesn't care where the CC#'s come from. LeesKeys
I own a px5 and have been using it exclusively as a midi controller for several years. I was curious about the Roland as it was recommended on another forum Im a member of. Is one board quieter? The PX5 is pretty noisy.
Markay
No comment on the respective keybed actions, but the A 88 could be powered solely by USB removing the need for an additional power supply. mcgoo
No experience with the Casio, but I use the A-88 as my controller in my studio rig. Nice feel, good form factor for a studio desk. JohnnyB3
I have a Casio (560M - I think similar keyboard to Px5) - I like the responsiveness and feel compared to my Yamaha YUS5 acoustic. But in terms of realistic touch and interaction tweak-ability with software, the Roland A-88 is worth investigating. The A-88 also works with Roland RPU-3 triple pedal, 1/2 damper capability. konaboy
if space is an issue, the rd-64 has same keys as a88 but only 64 of them. and supernatural piano and e-piano sounds. also usb bus powered. I don't have one, but I'm looking out for one for those reasons. hang out with me at woody piano shack
LeesKeys
Space is not an issue. Definitely prefer 88 keys. I think I need to get my hands on a A-88; nothing like a test drive. About a 2 hour drive to a good music store....
