konaboy
Hi, thinking about connecting three midi keyboard controllers to a PC to control three VST instances for doing real-time performances. Something like the Oxygen 25 which has keys and a control panel, so I can tweak the sounds of each VST as I'm playing it. I'm wondering if the PC/DAW could handle this, is it possible to connect multiple devices of same type without conflicts? cheers hang out with me at woody piano shack
Sven Golly
Yes, all of them will do what you want. Using a DAW for this is the wrong approach, however. Get a VST host application, such as Gig Performer, Cantabile, Brainspawn Forte, or any of the others that we've discussed here ad nauseum.
konaboy
thank you Sven, perhaps I should clarify this is just a home setup, not for live gigs. I've tested the concept using two USB midi keyboards, one of which with a split, so I could play the three vsts. It worked ok, but I think 3 identical controllers would be easier to configure and play. hang out with me at woody piano shack
Sven Golly
Gotcha. "Realtime performances" had me thinking live. So even so, a VST host will be a more appropriate approach, but even in most any DAW, the three controllers will be set up at the OS level and can be labelled uniquely, and then mapped to unique VSTs in any DAW. No problem, except with a bit of manual reading for your DAW and OS of choice.
