The Real MC
Do they still offer the option to "block images from this server"? That was great for zapping animated ads. Heck, I think my WFW31 computer still has Netscape on it but it hasn't been online in years.
GRollins
I think it is somewhat faster, but I'm annoyed that they dropped the little navigational tab thingies on the front page from 12 or 15 or whatever it was to 6. Maybe there's a way to restore that, but they shouldn't have knocked it down--I haven't looked yet--without asking. My speed problems aren't with Firefox, they're with my ISP, but that's another thread. Grey I'm not interested in someone's ability to program. I'm interested in their ability to compose and play. Markay
Hey Google, i can switch for a lot less, let's say 3 grands ? That's ok ? Maurizio Google might snap that offer up. Loose change compared to the $1 billion plus that Google pays Apple for having Google as the default search engine in Safari. I have no idea how Google gets a return on my browsing for VI's in Safari. Maybe I should turn my ad blocker off and find out, or use Google instead of DuckDuckGo when searching for Viagra. zephonic
I'm waiting for NoScript to be updated. It's not been working as it should since the last Firefox update. They hope to have it ready for Quantum by the end of the week. Seriously, I feel weird browsing without it! gear list.pdf

joegerardi
Very fast indeed. But all the add-ons I had for it don't work, which make it completely unusable for me. For example: I NEVER use tabs, so under File, having "Open in New tab" is useless to me. I had the Menu Wizard add-on that allowed me to flip menu items. That doesn't work. Because I don't use tabs, I don't need the main page to be a 'king tab. The "Hide tabs when only one tab in use" add-on allowed me to get rid of that. That doesn't work. Fire FTP doesn't work. Restore Add-on Bar doesn't work. Ad-blocker doesn't work. I could go on, but no reason. I downgraded back to 56.0.2 and turned off updates until they allow their developers to update their add-ons: Having my 20+ year method of working with a browser completely disrupted is not an update: it's a waste of my time. ..Joe Setup: Korg Kronos 61, Roland XV-88, Korg Triton-Rack, Motif-Rack, Korg N1r, Alesis QSR, Roland M-GS64 Yamaha KX-88, KX76, Roland Super-JX, E-Mu Longboard 61, Kawai K1II, Kawai K4. Threadslayer
Well it just hit me. Mozilla pushed the "blazingly fast" update on me and in no particular order: wiped out all my bookmarks erased the previous version of Firefox AND the directory it was in Reduced my internet browsing to a crawl crashed crashed again required a hard reboot to end its death throes anyone know of a fix/workaround/way to get even? thanks Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect. -Mark Twain
drawback
My updated Firefox is flawless. drawback
OT perhaps, but why firefox, and not Safari for mac people? Firefox used to be more secure, with imo better customizing options and more intuitive gui with overall less clunkiness than Safari. I've either gotten used to it, or it's still better, so why not stay with it? ____________________________________ Rod Here for the gear.

MikeT156
I get VERY annoyed with CONSTANT updates that keep popping up once a week or so and keep interrupting what I'm working on. It comes up later when I say NO not now. I guess I will have to go into the Control Panel and knock off the notifications. I get sick and tired of automatic updates that don't interest me. Mike T. Grey Can you tell me how you did this? Mine are all gone. thanks If yours are all gone I don't know if this will work, but for me, when I mouse over my Top Sites, a little gray "Edit?" appears in the upper right corner of the field. Mouse over the ? That brings up a little window, in which you'll find "New Tab Preferences" in blue. Tag that. Under "Top Sites" (make sure that's checked), there's an option to "Show two rows." Tag that. I turned off "Recommended by Pocket" and all that nonsense. There may be better ways to do this. I discovered this by accident, just messing around. Markay
Quantum arrived on one my Win 10 machines while I was out. All exactly the way it was, tabs, bookmarks, uBlock etc. Restore recent sessions did not work but all in recent history so no inconvenience. Seems like slightly stronger colours in the logo and a little more Edge like in appearance. Now if they could fix the crash prone Android version I will be a happy camper. Faster? Won't know until it has 2 weeks of accumulated cached crap to chew through each time it wakes up. J_tour
Yeah, it's great. I'm looking forward to downloading a debian install package over my glacially-slow cellular connection of Firefox 56. Since there aren't any current "Web Extensions" (I think that's what they call them now) to support saving and reading MHTML files, FF is useless to me as a browser. There's always Chrome, but I usually don't want to browse using some Speak-n-Say child aesthetic in my face.
